Funnily enough, the Volta a Catalunya has been ridden in late May / early June originally, with the Setmana Catalana as an additional Catalan stage race at the end of March. I guess it was moved to March in 2011, since a) the Setmana Catalana didn't exist anymore at that point and b) the new date was a better fit to the Pro Tour calendar.

When the Vuelta was in April, Catalunya was in early September. The move to March was in 2010.

Yes, you're right. "Originally" was not the right word, it was only from 1995 to 2009 that it was ridden in June. You're also right about 2010, don't know why German wikipedia says 2011.

IIRC the early PT/WT Voltas were mid-May in 2005-2009, about 1 month earlier in the calendar than they were before PT/WT

Edit: and I think it was moved to March also to have no competition for the Tour of California (remember that race?) in May.
