My brain can't process that there are people who don't like Carapaz

Unquestionably the most exciting stage racer of this generation.

He’s almost the same age as Simon Yates, so no. I mean I agree that it’s hard to understand cycling fans who dislike Carapaz, but he’s not unquestionably the most exciting stage racer of his generation.

The stage tomorrow is expected to finish between14:02 and 14:22 (CEST), and be aware of the change to daylight saving time tonight for Spain and most of Europe.
Good lord, we don't have to worry about that here in the USA!

My only question is... Will Higuita and Carapaz have the legs after todays monstrouss efforts? They will perhaps pay the toll. Ineos doesn't have the numbers to protect him in 6 climbs and Bora doesn't have the strengh to control the race. It could be mayhem tomorrow.
Carapaz has a good team. Higuita, not so much. So Higuita's job is to tie a rope to the back of Carapaz bike and that's it.

Carapaz has Rodriguez and Castroviejo left and that's it. Ok, both of them are going well, but it's still just 2 riders.

Only reason I can think of is that he spent most of his breakout 2018 Giro wheelsucking and that clouding people's vision ever since.
Except for the day when he attacked and won the race!

PS: It was the 2019 edition. My mistake, please don't reply anymore. Thanks!:(

Oh man, couldn’t they hold off daylight savings for another day? Race could have action pretty early in tomorrow’s stage.

Will be interesting tomorrow. Higuita has to stick on the wheel of Carapaz and has to hope that Hindley has a good day.
There was another Bora rider in the front group, Anton Palzer. I don't know much about him but hopin that he has a good day as well.

Ayuso seems like a complete selfish douchebag. I love it :D Well, perhaps it sounds a bit harsh but we need more of those rebellious riders who want results for themselves no matter what and at the cost of their teammates succes!

Last year he wasn't. So I am not so sure.

Higuita and Richie got away with like 130k to go. Plapp was with them and worked for awhile, got dropped, and ultimately DNF'd. Very little flat road, weather was terrible, riders were suffering and UAE only had a couple riders trying to pull them back. UNO-X and Bahrain started helping a little but it was far too late.
Thanks for the summary.

130k to go ... that's almost funny. UAE and Arkea justlooking to each other maybe.

Nairo had no no teammates left when I tuned in with like 85 km to go. Arkea has supported him pretty well in races earlier this season but really disappeared today. Don’t know if there was illness or didn’t bring climbing domestiques.

I have to take that back he did have one, Lukas Oswian, who finished in the first bunch. It was a little hard to tell with the rain jackets (do they all have to be black?). Next closest Arkea rider was 23 minutes back.

Man all these replies about Masnada demonstrate a lack of knowledges on the sport.

If Masnada was there he would be in the group with Carapaze and Higuita. He is a smart races and know the right moves.

Where are Arkea?
The big boss all the time complains about the lack of results and he got Nairo with a big pay check but he forgot to get better support for Nairo. This year Nairo is trying but the team looked OK in those Pro. Cont. races but in the WT races they are lacking. Even without Nairo if they are trying to be a WT team they need better riders for 1 week and GT races.

Vuelta Catalunya is quite an important race. I expect attacks from Carapaz, Almeida and Quintana tomorrow, who all still have chances to win the GC.

Bora however needs a victory like this, to keep their position as a Top-6 WT team (behind UAE, Ineos, Jumbo, QuickStep and Bahrain)… :)
