He had no chance. I am shock at his poor showing today. It could have been worse.

Ayuso's positioning excuse is only half valid. Whilst it's true he had to make up several positions when Rog accelerated, the question is whether he was already a bit 'out of sorts' on the previous laps up the climb and Red Bull noticed.

That could be a logical conclusion because when Mas and the others attacked on the following lap, Ayuso got dropped.

Probably wasn't the most risk-free move from Roglic but all's well that ends well, and it was really fun

I think he didn’t want to wait for the final lap—that might’ve actually been even riskier, in my opinion. Attacking from the third lap always carries some risk, but you’ll never know how strong your rivals really are unless you try. That always was Contador’s style, and it paid off more than once. It paid out for Roglic today.

As someone who hasn't watched the race (just seen recaps) and just went into pcs to see the result I was actually shocked! 28 seconds in GC after the race was so insanely even?! That is a lot :O I hope it stays til the Giro. It should benefit both my favorite riders

But I certainly know the answer to if a sophomore continental level racer walking up to Primos Roglic to some kind of conflict about weather conditions.. Not going to happen..

He was the most aggressive GC rider in the race. And he won it the way he rode it, despite clearly suffering from the mid-race crash.

There was not a single stage where he didn't attack but should have.
