So the strongest at this point appear to be Roglic, Carapaz, Martin, Mas, Carthy and Kuss. Kuss isn't riding GC. Is Carthy riding GC?

I don't think Roglič was the strongest today but played it perfectly in the finale. Kuss, Carapaz and maybe some others looked stronger. That doesn't mean Roglič won't be the strongest throughout the Vuelta. Consistency is his forte. It will be a good fight with Ineos and Carapaz and maybe Mass imo.

I expected alot more than a minute looking at those gaps on TV. Surely though no one is strong enough to take a minute back off Rog :p

I posted earlier that the way the stages are structured that strong GC teams will ride hard until the ITT because the last week is easier than the first two weeks - So expect more attacking racing and be patient in waiting for a breakaway.

I agree, Carapaz looked really strong, imo. I'd probably make him overall favourite now given the route.

More than enough blood for an opening stage, although it's just a routine in the end for someone who steamrolled Itzulia before.

Impressing watching more pre-favourites loosing tons of time during the last 5.9k short climb in Vuelta's first stage.
Kudos to Ineos for setting extreme pace and especially kudos to Sepp Kuss for immediately following up on Ineo's pressure right from the buttom of the climb resulting in great fireworks!
