they should finish it with a big flat 50 km ITT.i still think it's wrong that in grand tours nowadays of 3500 kms just 40 are ITTs.

Are they really necessary?
IMO they don't add anything to the race, except to wear down the group.
Both La Tour and La Vuelta sites are the same ASO design.
La Tour site says the TDF has 23: 2, 1 and HC climbs
La Vuelta site has 46 "mountain passes". This probably includes 3rd cats, but still.............
True that so far, the 2010s are not the decade for the big, diesel ITTer.
