What a blast of a time by Sunweb.

Kelderman will be happy.
Even though Dumoulin is going really well and might win the Worlds, I still feel that he could have won Vuelta
I have little doubt he could have.
But you have to show up in the first place and he chose not to. Which I still dont understand because, who cares that much about the Worlds ITT? A Vuelta is worth much more IMO.

Dumoulin is obsessed about the worlds itt for years. Yet always let something else come in between causing him to be off-form. Vuelta 2015, last year olympics (he couldn't peak again) and didn't want to take that risk i think

In other news, BMC smashes the split times. Will probably win again.

Dumo said himself he doesn't have it mentally to stick it for another 3 weeks right now. So it doesn't matter how good/bad his legs are at all.

Because he has spent the majority of his career as a specialist TTer and hasn't yet won the largest distinguishment for a TTer.

Trentin is awesome to interview

Lotto Nl Jumbo started 2 seconds early, it amazes me you can get away with doing things like that. Happens really often now I pay attention to it.

Timer starts when the team/rider starts in a TT, it is not fixed for a specific time

So you mean they have changed the rules since '89?

Actually the more I think about it, do you have a source for that burning? I'm not entirely convinced they do.

Maybe we're in for a Sunweb surprise?

Don't think so. They're at the Vuelta with a very unexperienced and young team.

Well so far, I have to take back my words. Great ride by Sunweb.

Always easy to say, when things look the part, but Sunweb has some great engines in Kragh, Kämna, Kelderman and Haga. I wasn't particularly impressed with the lineups from QuickStep, Sky and BMC considering TTT skills, but all three should be up there just by default.

2.4.013 The start may be determined by the front tyre making contact with an electronic timing
strip on the start line. If the rider starts fractionally before the countdown reaches 0 or in
the following 5 seconds the time it is triggered is used. If the rider starts after this 5
second delay has elapsed or in the event of problems with the electronic timing, the
rider's time shall be counted as from the start of manual timing following the countdown.

Edit: that's for the ITTs, but I would presume that the same applies in the TTTs even though there is nothing about that in the regulations

Ah awesome, that is reassuring.

I don't get the need to start a GT on a technical TT.

You end up losing riders, even GT contenders, because of corners.. Do you want to test a rider or a team, don't make it technical from the get go

A few years ago the TTT was thru a thorugfare by the beach and on sand and very slippy
in 2013 it started on glass...

Vuelta TTT are usually very dicey
