Curiously Freire pulls out just before the stage which will pass through his home town. Why not wait one day with that?! People would probably wait for him there.

During the first week he was saying he might finish the Vuelta because there's an extra week before the WC compared to other years, and now he says he'll get better training solo. Honestly this doesn't look good for Spain's chances, but then in 1999 he won having raced, what, 15 days during the whole season?

No successful break yet, Liquigas setting a high pace. Maybe the unmarked climb will be the launch pad

I am so upset i will miss this stage. Will of course record it and watch it upon return but it is more enjoyable to watch these things while on this forum.

So long as Mosquerra wins i wont mind.

The break has finally become established.

Sijmens, Kaisen, van Avermaet, Barredo, Cazaux and Peter Velit's twin brother Martin.

Highest up on GC are Barredo (47th at 39.16) and van Avermaet (52nd at 43.44) so no worry to the overall.

Gap is 3.57

Caisse pulling from the peloton. I don't know why. If they wanted to catch the break so that they could get someone in any subsequent moves, they should have done it long ago. I don't think they have any rider that can win the stage if they start the final climb with the favourites.

Did Marzio break anything in the crash yesterday? Is he still in the race? I know he came back 17 mins down but was he all right otherwise?

He didn't break anything but he got 19 stitches on his arms and it's doubtful whether he'll manage to end the stage.

Maybe Uran is ok and they think he can win or at least place in the first few? Its also possible they are worried about the team classification. Lotto have two up front and are 12 minutes down on Caisse, the current leaders. Seems a bit early to start worrying about that as the leaders will lose lots of time on the final climb.

According to La Vuelta site and me, I make them 25 minutes ahead of the fastest schedule!

Yeah, Liquigas wouldnt let anything go until about km 70 so it was high speed all the way.

I'm worried the coverage wont start before the climb. If the Snooker overuns we're in trouble here.
