They might be just coming back from Pau to Escartín's home at Biescas and trolling us with pictures of a climb that will not be in the race.
Hey now

The first 2 weeks will be better than the Giro, so this Vuelta can hardly be bad

Why is it that when everybody speaks about what and where they are going to race, I have no clue to what the profiles will look like. My Spanish geography isnt top notch.

To be fair, the standards we have for geography are kinda nuts.

Because Guillén is a 21st century explorer and a true innovator.

Well compared to the Giro and Tour-threads. I guess its also somewhat easier to tell whats likely going to happen for some reason, or maybe I just stink. :D

And yeah, LS basically knows every little cobbled street in Spain it seems. Why he/she isn't working for Unipublic is beyond me! Or any race organizer, for that matter.

You know the feeling I have when I play GTA Vice City and know the map by heart?

Must be insane to have the same feeling with a map of Europe

Asturian TV mentioned a finish at Tuiza de Arriba in the stage to La Cubilla. It looks like we'll miss the last 9km of the climb. That last km at 10% and the parking before entering the village must have made it a no brainer for Unipublic.

Where do we start the petition to get LS hired to be a race organizer?

Unfortunately for us LS is not a famous retired pro-rider. But if only Escartín and Guillén listened to Delgado we'd have at least a >200km multi-mountain marathon every year.

That would be awesome, knowing they way LS writes really long stage descriptions we could probably expect +600 pages long roadbooks for gts. :D

Imagine an MS backstage pass video where the DS just goes "Another important day today guys, twas too long a read to get through, I got no idea where we're going, but I'm sure it's important."

   That would be funny, probably happen for a bunch of stages for most teams.

On the bright side we'd have an extremely detailed roadbook that many fans could take and figure out what parts of stages they would actually want to try to ride.

Isn't this fairly close to Cobertoria? If the GC is just right before a stage like this, it could force a move already at Cobertoria, and the stage could prove eventful.

Yes, it is 27km from the end of the Cobertoria descent. Last time they climbed the Cobertoria the leaders group split in the descent and they still had Cordal and Angliru to go, but there was no flat between climbs and no mountain stage the day after.

For the Acebo stage all rumours point to the classical climbs frequently used in the Vuelta a Asturias: Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas/Valvaler E and Connio W. They may add something else before but nobody expects Unipublic being creative with the final part of the stage.

These climbs are in parallel roads so they could do Connio E and Valvaler/Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas W, but this option increases the flat before the MTF.

I think the Acebo's stage is going to be after La Cubilla/Tuiza de Arriba because on September 8th there's a local party in the Acebo (a pilgrimage).

My bet for the Asturian stages :

Comillas - Oviedo with Alto del Violeo as last climb of the day
Lugones - Cubilla / Tuiza de Arriba with Maravio, Cobertoria and Tuiza de Arriba/Cubilla or Cordal, Cobertoria x2 and Tuiza de Arriba or Cubilla
Cudillero/Luarca/Navia - Acebo with Bustellan, Pozo de las Mujeres Muertas and Connio before the Acebo.

The final Mountain stage will take place near Madrid, right?
It would be nice to see Bola del Mundo once again.

No, the last mountain stage ends in Cotos.

Really? That's like the most un-vuelta like thing out there, finishing in Cotos when there is Bola del Mundo just around the corner.

Strongly dislike Bola del Mundo, though I generally don't think the Sierra Guadarrama are great. It's kinda annoying cause every time they're in they're the last mountain stage, which they're really ill suited to I think.

Morcuera + Cotos was great in 2015. so why not? The overdose of climbs with insane gradients that the Vuelta uses to feature has led most people to dismiss those classic shallow ones. Then we see Simon Yates blow the race up in the easy part of La Rabassa and the easy side of La Comella and we're left thinking WTF.

Very true, but they also need enough climbing to work with. Those climbs aren't very long, they aren't super many, there's not that much choice.

2015 were pretty insane circumstances.

I wouldn't mind another Navacerrada TT
