Same here. Roglic must be the most boring GT winner of the current generation. Follow the train, attack final 400m for boniseconds, rinse, repeat, wait for ITT.

Roglic won the Vuelta thanks to boniseconds. Take all boni's away and even the ITT couldn't save him.

Congrats primoz! Very happy for him.

Dont get people saying how pathetic he is. He is clinging to the last rests of his form, defended well in Bad situations and was always aggressive when he could make use of his abilities. Of course the great team makes the whole ride a bit uninspiring at times, but still, he did something exceptional (soooo close to a GT-double) and I can only feel happy for him.

Look at his season and the number of wins. He's been incredible this year. I think he comes off as kind of passive (someone earlier said "beta") and I don't think his personality is too exciting (could be a language barrier), but who cares? The guy wins, and wins often. Congrats to him.

It's more Acquadro, and Skyneos, than anything personal against Carapaz, as mentioned Soler is a good personal friend of his, and he rode at Lizarte with a few of the other Movistar guys like Carretero and Samitier when he first came over here (I know they're not in the Vuelta). But Sky/Ineos have taken a lot of guys from Movistar over the years, and this year taking not just Movistar riders but people who were developed in-house like Carapaz and people perceived as Abarcá lifers like Amador, wounded them deeply.

Massive respect to Roglic - 2nd in Tour, wins LBL, wins Vuelta. Incredible consistency throughout the season. Sure, he wasn't completely invincible in this race but considering he's essentially ridden back to back GTs and he's been winning races non-stop since June. Not many riders can hold top form for 4 and a half months!

Of course, I can't forget to congratulate David Gaudu; 2 stages and 8th on GC - not bad for someone who's only just turned 24. After the disappointment of the Tour he's showing himself to be a danger man in GTs.

Someone has to say it: If this was a proper gt with 21 stages Roglic would have lost the race on the final gc stage.

I think we can therefore all agree that this Vuelta should not count as a grand tour but only as a medium tour (mt) win for Roglic. That also puts him on top of the all time mt winners list.

Roglic was not on a good day, today. The days and weeks of hard racing had caught up. But his team, also tired, played their cards well (bluffing well), and played a great card by sending Hofstede in the break. Bennett and Kuss did what they could, and then Hofstede provided that brief bit of respite during the final clash to allow Roglic to regroup. If Carapaz could have looked into the heads of the Jumbo riders, surely he would have gone up the hill sooner, and he was clearly the strongest of the GC guys today. But that's racing. In the end, Roglic has had a great season, rode his best and was beaten by a better rider in the TDF but still rode his own best and podiumed two grand tours, won one grand tour, and won a monument. Well done.
