Well done Bernal for trying. Well done Movistar for doing, well nothing. They have no intention of trying to win this race, got on the podium and are trying to keep it.

Can someone give me a recap? I only got on with about 8 Ks to go...
I figured that Elissonde abandonded, and this time it was actually him. Eiking crashed. And there was some attacking...

Not exactly the most expected plot.
Hall of famous stages material.

Thanks to Bernal for rushing into things.
Without the move wouldn't have been this memorable.

Now we'll see what the consequences are on tomorrow's stage.
Opens up the room for another set of protagonists.

No legs unfortunately

Cycling is just not rocket science, its a lot less complicated than a lot of these wannabe DS with a phd in tactics and communications on this forum make it out to be
Losing 1'30 after such an effort is pretty good tbh. Clearly the 2nd strongest rider today. It just looks much worse cause Roglic seems to have been riding within himself before the final climb.

Wouldn't Hirt have been a lot more useful for Eiking? Maybe he was just mentally done after that crash and told them to leave him behind, who knows...

Bernal tried a Landis with 60 km to go, and only Roglic could go with him. The pair stretched a lead up the last Cat 1 mountain, down the valley, and up the final climb, till Roglic pulled away and Bernal lost steam.

Bernal gained absolutely nothing from all that. It was fun to watch, but all it did was launch Roglic and blowing himself up.

Well I take that back, they managed to drop Eiking and Martin. Everyone played into TBV’s hands today and paid for it.

Eiking dropped early, Bernal attacked 60k out, only Roglic following, sat on the wheel at first but then started to work in the valley, they were ahead about 2.15 at one point, came down to 1.30 at the foot with Bharain chasing. Few K's in Roglic cracks Bernal, who rode alone most of the climb, various half hearted attacks from GC favourites, Rogla win, rest ST.

I mean lame in the sense that the actual difference in level was (is?) way too great

pretty depressing to watch coupled with a parcours not suitable for racing from far out (despite today) and Roglic having the best team
