Watching it back, it's amazing how they didn't catch Cort. From about 1.5k to 1k, he's like about 5 seconds in front and then they all just looked at each other and he rode away enough to hang on. Any bit of a dig earlier and he gets caught.
Well yeah, but whoever stuck their head up to be the guy to do that, would get caught and passed. To catch Cort needed a team to have numbers in the finale, working in unison with a common goal, and someone to make a selfless effort, to set up one rider with a strong finishing kick.

And I can't think who that team might be. Did any team finish with, say, 3 riders in the top 10?

It's still early, but Movistar looks to be the biggest challenger to Roglič (with Bernal) ATM. Mas looks good, but I don't believe in him. Lopez looks more scary to me to be honest. He is the only rider in the world that has dropped a top form healthy Roglič on a climb multuple times in the past. Not Pogačar, not Bernal or anyone else, Superman is that guy.
MAL is so inconsistent though.

The worry is Rogls team, I think they looked kinda weak even on the flat today.

Tomorrow could be problems, although I don't think it's all that hard tomorrow.

This finishing hill, like many here are saying was a real but check..riders giving back 20-45 seconds in @1.5 kilometers!!
organization left w some difficult circumstances, final few kilometres through what looked like alfalfa fields and the farm roads were narrow so cameras and caravan couldn't get by that easy..and in the final climb road was skinny w a large police van taking up 25% of the road thanks to a schitty parking job..motorcycle officiating and camera bikes have been in a dangerous looking mix through half dozen stages..I hope nobody gets crashed out from a collision with a support car or motorcycle..
Few things for sure if the TT was 2,3 times longer everything would look different for Roglic..I loved that Movistar got on the front to bring it back..fruitless..and Carapaz trying to jump was awesome..again fruitless but exciting..

Yeah, and that was even after being saved by his teammates who helped him back to the peloton. When has it ever payed off to help a favourite back once he has shown obvious signs of weakness? I can't think of examples (only when it's been crashes).
Tbf, if this was a usual crosswinds stage with a bunch sprint finish in the middle of town, then once he was back on Carthy rolls in with the peloton, goes for a massage, tries to recover ahead of the next stage, and lives to fight another day.
