Vuelta a España 2022: Pre-race discussion/hype tread

Page 19 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
They are 99% not, no. Too lazy to actually confirm it.

A classic Movistar-team for La Vuelta, one can only hope that Enric Mas doesn't crash and have turned it around, because if he has, he can win the race. Valverde can hopefully grab a top-10 and a stage, and Norsgaard should be feel blessed about the TTT, because now he gets to ride a GT with Valverde!

I really don't think Mas has any chance of winning the race. Something extraordinary needs to have happened since the Tour for that to be the case.

Looking at the 5 key GC teams, Bora seems to be the one missing more on great TT'ers - neither Hindley, Buchmann or Higuita are great, and they also don't have a great TT "domestique" either.

UAE have Almeida, McNulty, Ayuso, all decent to top TTers. They can have Soler as the 4th and use Oliveira as a TT dom during the middle half. Not great, but better than Bora IMHO.

QS will surely do well and have the better team on paper, as they can also have Serry, Devenyns and Vervaeke doing pulls in the first half. Ineos should also do well, as well as Jumbo, although both one step below QS.

QS - Remco, Cavagna, IvW, Ala
Jumbo - Roglic, Affini, Dennis, Gesink (?)
Bora - Kelderman, Higuita, Hindley, Buchmann
Ineos - Carapaz, Hayter, TGH, Sivakov or Rodriguez (?)
UAE - Almeida, McNulty, Ayuso, Soler or Oliveira (?)

Didnt' Arkea had Edet riding with Quintana all the time at the beginning of the year and then decides that he is no help for neither the Tour nor the Vuelta. I don't get it. But anyway, here is the Arkea's line up:

Team Arkéa Samsic

MCLAY Daniel
DELAPLACE Anthony
GESBERT Élie
GUERNALEC Thibault
GUGLIELMI Simon
QUINTANA Nairo
OWSIAN Łukasz
RUSSO Clément
DS HINAULT Sébastien, LEDANOIS Yvon

The minimum height in Nairo's teammates is 1.80 m. They know this is the Vuelta, right?

The support for Nairo in that team is weak!

Can any of those guys even climb???
@Escarabajo @Ulle97

As far as I understand Edet would have been brought as a support for Nairo but he has an injury that relates to complications from a surgery in July and therefore can't race.

It seems with this line up they are going for a big lead in the TTT and the crosswinds of the first stages. Then Nairo just has to hang on for dear life for 3 weeks!

Strange that they sign guys like Anacona and Dayer, who share a background, language and professional history with Nairo, but them don't take them to the big races as a support. When you are 3 weeks on the road, would be nice to have someone on the team who is close to you

Hopefully Gesebert can do some strong support in the climbs

Shocked they didn’t bring Quintana’s brother Dayer, Arkea failed.

I can understand why they didn't bring the other Colombians if they don't have the form. Having said that, they don't race them too much so it is hard to get form without racing. But anyway, the main reasons for bringing them to the teams is mostly as companionship during training in Europe and outside of Europe. So he is surrounded by his friends and family. Unfortunately that doesn't translate to the races.

Anyone else feeling a bit bummed that Roglic has announced he's riding the Vuelta??

I was looking forward to an open and unpredictable Vuelta.
Now we are subjected to Jumbo Visma and Sepp Kuss sucking the life out of the race. Meanwhile, we wait for the customary Roglstomp sprint 200m from the line in these uphill finishes.
Not feeling the excitment at all!!

I think the quality of the field is high enough and Roglic’s current strength (and Kuss coming off the TdF) is unpredictable enough that we’ll have a great race.

Sprinters and hard-men domestiques can contribute a lot to short TTTs, though they may not be there at the end. Though I haven’t looked at all the lineups to see who will get the most there.

Did you ask 8 billion people?

This feels like something at least one of your fellow Dane forummembers would say :)

Ineos with Carapaz, Rodriguez, Sivakov and TGH. Strongest line-up in the race I would say...

Quite surprised they are not bringing De Plus, considering he seemed to be in great shape in Burgos. Maybe he can leave Ineos soon, it's clearly not working out for him or the team and hopefully he's cashed in enough now so that he can return to QS and take over Serry's job in the future. Or is this related to his training accident? He didn't seem really injured.

Super strong team. Likely that one of Masnada or Alaphilippe wins multiple stages, although I am not sure about gc chances of Evenpoel.

And now we will have, as long as no crashes or illness, Alaphilippe, Masnada and Evenepoel coming into the wolrds and lombardia in absolute top condition. Exciting.

If Remco is going for GC of the Vuelta, he will not have his peak anymore during the WC or Lombardia . For the other two you are right i think.

I am shocked as well and I can't understand the reason. I still don't know why they ain't do that. So, I was searching for it online and found this forum website where I found a post on that race. When I was searching for it on google search, I also found https://playcasinoscanada.com/casino-reviews/casino-cruise/ website link where I can read online real money gaming reviews and can easily find a lot of sites through which I can earn money.
