Too be fair, this years giro (2nd overall) and tour (2 stage wins and 5th overall) was still ok.

San Vicente de la Barquera is one of my all-time best memories from a road trip to Cantabria / Asturias. Spectacular setting, spectacular beaches and views and some very very very good seafood to top it off.
It's a secret gem (I hope it still is next time I visit, so don't tell anyone!

Western Cantabria/eastern Asturias is an awesome destination in general. The coast and its towns are beautiful, the mountains equally so, and it's really easy to combine the two. Only downside is that you need to drive everywhere pretty much by default.
