Because he is the humble good guy, always there for the team that screws him over again and again. At least in the forum narrative
Why would Vingegaard be allowd to attack when he is 3rd in GC and not Roglic?
He marked others when Vinge was in front, today Kuss jumped to close when he really didn't need to and went over his limit.

The annoying thing to me is that unless Roglic drops everyone by 1.5 minutes tomorrow the result was massively effected by team dynamics anyway. Kuss only ever got red because he was in a breakaway multiple teams didn't chase. But then Vingegaard was clearly behind Roglic and is now only in front of him because twice the team decided he should be the first to attack with the better sprinter, Rolgic, waiting behind. If Kuss wins this race because his teammates don't attack him he deserves it as much as Vingegaard who is in this position because his teammates didn't chase.
This! Tomorrow, Roglic should have green light to attack and win.

Yeah, it's pretty clear that Kuss does not want the leaders to wait for him and just hand him the win. So they have the freedom to go as fast as possible, but he is free to defend his lead without having to work for them as usually.
I doubt either of those guys would have won as much as they have had it not been for Kuss' work though. Nobody's gifting Kuss anything. He's ridden 2 GTs in support of both of those guys, THIS YEAR.

I agree. It's all very odd. If it's every man for himself, fine, but it isn't. It's. Well. I don't know what it is!

I don't understand why people are so upset about this. Ok, I guess I do but I don't agree. Jumbo has has the 3 strongest climbers in this race. If they're the strongest, they should win. Sure, I wished Ayuso was up there with them but they have been stronger.

And of the 3, I'd prefer Sepp to win but more than that I'd like to see them race it out. Sure, it almost cost Sepp the lead but so be it. I'm glad they went all out rather than just rode together to the finish. I wouldn't want him to win if it was gifted and he's already said he doesn't want that either. After all, he gained 3 minutes on them in a breakaway. They've got such a big lead that they could just be riding every stage to the finish together but they're not which I appreciate.

I honestly don't understand why so many people are so invested in which Jumbo guy beats the other Jumbo guys. It isn't going to save the race either way.
For me it’s simply that I love seeing a career domestique take a huge win. It’s also totally fascinating watching the teammates he usually works for slowly take it from him and people’s varying reactions to that.

Yes if you are much stronger than the leader.
...Kuss placed top 20 in the Giro and Tour, did a very respectable TT in this race, and has fought on everey mountain stage...they aren't "much" stronger, considering Kuss pulled them to their wins...and still managed a top 20. So no, their tactics are absolute bullsh!t in a vacuum. Outside of the vacuum, them going 1-2-3 in this race is extraterrestrial, and I think the race thread should be in the Clinic.

The final climb up the La Cruz de Linares tomorrow is the last place where Sepptimus can lose the race. It's a Cat 1, 845 meters, 8.6% slope, 8.3 km.

That seems to be the kind of climb that Jonas can smash, but will he? Will Rog? Can Sepptimus hang on?

Sepp answers his phone.

“hello?”

Mr. Kuss? Hello my name is Dave Brailsford. I am known internationally as the British Bernard Tapie. How would you like to make millions next year?”

Ineos is more likely to contact Rog.

He just proved his doubters wrong. Where are the jokers who said he would get dropped by Ayuso? Or that he was weak yesterday & wasn't stronger than Mas?

Emphatic answer right here. He won't win the Vuelta but he won the Angliru, on merit.
