If Ganna launched slightly earlier before Groves got up to full speed he might have had a shot. Or not ;)

Nice, clean sprint. Good with the corner at 700 m to go.
I'll have to take your word for it in regard to the distance left, for some reason Peacock has not been showing how many meters there are left to race. It's quite mind-boggling.

Rare to see a sprint where it's so obvious the 2nd placed rider was stronger than the winner. Ganna spent more time in the wind, came from further back and had a higher speed throughout the process of the sprint. The Alpecin leadout masterclass struck again.

On another note, was I supposed to know Ganna can do that?

6 seconds won't decide this race and there aren't exactly many of these sprints in flat stages that won't go to the break so it won't accumulate either. People are overreacting.
It was just funny. But as Thomas said once, if you're getting something for free why not take it?

Would have been Ganna's second sprint win of the summer after Wallonie, so arguably yes.

He won in Wallonie last month, so it wasn‘t completely out of the blue.

Molano must have crashed in the 3.1 to go crash. And MVDB was completely out of position. Slim pickings.

A GT stage podium on a stage ending with a bunch sprint including Ganna and Van Gestel was not something I would have picked before the season.

Two independent crashes at the roundabout:
