What the hell. Sivakov was also not great, but we couldnt expect that from him, this is probably his limit. Yates quite bad as well on a perfect stage for him, so Del Toro is their best bet!

This was a really exciting climb tbf. Great Vuelta so far!
These guys peaked in June.

That's A LOT of time to lose on such a short climb. That requires someone like Vlasov to drop him in the first steep km by quite a margin and then hammer it on the shallower part to drive the advantage home. Don't quite see that happening. I'll be surprised if O'Connor is dropped before the final steep ramp.

what do you think now?

Also, 3:49 without with 5 incredibly hard MTFs, the queen stage and an ITT is all under control. Ben is no bum, but Ag2R should seriously consider their tactics now and let Gall do his stuff.

let Gall do what, finish 7th?

they will never have a better chance to win a GT and are rightly all-in to try
Romain Bardet fluking a Tour was a better opportunity. Ben is not better than this. Tomorrow Ben will get absolutely fried on Hazallanes, this is just an insanely hard climb, hard stage overall in blazing hot weather. +3 minutes at least

Just managed to catch a replay, what an action packed 5km. Not sure what IPT was doing working all day, but that last climb was brutal in this heat. Great to see some racing, great to see Roglic and Mas looking to be both on very good form, pretty equal in the end. But a shame for the crash at the start of the climb, it seems Almeida got the worst of it. And now that I look at it, it seems no UAE riders in the top 10 even? And they have a team full of top talent, just seems crazy.

I was right about the middle part not being hard enough to drop people, but I didn't expect O'Connor to crack that hard on the final bit. I guess the very confident riding early on when Roglic first attacked played a part, as others have said. A bit like when he went with Pog in the Giro, only to be dropped by all the other pretenders afterwards. But O'Connor also doesn't seem at the level needed to make this interesting.

Again, good job being off by just one second in your prediction! :D

The Vuelta is a lot longer than this weekend, Roglic hasn't had a lie down yet and there are actually other guys in the race
