No, I don't like Angliru at all.
We didn't have any attack, it blocks the stage and it could destroy the racing on previous stages.
On top of that, despite things escalating very early today, and the pace being very high, we have limited time gaps.
Give us a 6km/9% climb with the same strategy from UAE and things would explode big time.

You say "my opponent was stronger and deserved the win". Which is exactly what he did. And which is probably also true, but that doesn't mean Vingegaard couldn't have won.

In reality, it's probably a mix of the two things: feeling exhausted AND not seeing the greatest need for an all-in sprint.

Many things can be true at the same time, Ameida's moves put him in a great position overall, everyone below him on GC is definitely going to need an act of God to take @2 minutes back from him in his current form..he made the best with what he had, and his dynamic decision to just race regardless if his effort benefited Vingegaard was bold!! Super fun to watch. As far as rider to rider comparison.. Ameida was definitely as strong as Vingegaard today, he did way way more work than Vingegaard, and look at the day.. Victory, gut check on everyone, including Jonas, bonus seconds and a bit more buffer.
Don't know about watts and calories but Almeida looking outstanding compared to Vingegaard.

I'm not sure what Armstrong has to do with this. I'm a fan of Jonas, and I hoped he would win today. He himself said he wanted to win the stage. But he said after the race he did not have the legs to beat Almeida. Give Almeida credit. It was an epic ride and win that none of us will forget.
Vingegaard looked well within himself to me, and I don't think Alemda is capable of dropping him. I never saw a hint that he could be dropped. If that UAE jersey were on different shoulders, I think that would have been different, but we're talking about Almeda, not Pogacar.

Almeida remembered the final 200 meters better than Vingo, methinks. The Dane wanted to win but didn't have space to overtake at the end.

What's most likely is Vingegaard knew the finish, but Almeida simply changed his pacing plan to be able to ride hard from the final uphill bit to the end. They lost considerable time at the end, and Vingegaard never felt comfortable enough to come over the top on the uphill.
He wanted to win but he didn't want to win after being on the wheel for the whole climb. That's just not his style, no matter how many people may hate him for being a wheelsucker or whatever.

On my commentary they were saying Jonas needed to attack before it flattened out. They were right.
