I am a bit sceptical, that is Jonas does look a bit more nervous to me, than usually and UAE seem way more relaxed, but still can end up with leadership issues. Anyway, if today Jonas won't look in control then forget about putting 2 minutes into competition in any resemblance of a climb. Then it will be harder for Jonas to win this race and that would be rather surprising. We'll see.

What does all this even mean? If Vingegaard winning a stage and being on the podium in puncheur sprint is a bad sign, then I will have to reconsider what I think I know about cycling.

And today has got very little to do with how much Vingegaard can gain on Angliru for example. Today might well end up as a bunch sprint among the climbers, and in any case the differences will be tiny on this climb.

@Squire

Jonas IMHO must look in control of the situation today, otherwise cracks will start to show. As for the nervous remark, maybe i am delving too much into it but Jonas doesn't look relaxed to me at this race and so far. I got this impression mostly from his post stage interviews and similar. We'll see.

I guess that some nervousness and frustration could come from the fact that Jonas wants not only to win this race but to win as much stages as possible in the process, cosplaying Pogi, mainly to show the effectiveness of Danish aligned approach. And hence whenever an opportunity was missed, he isn't as happy as he could have been.

Well, I make my judgements based on what the riders do while on their bike, but I might be looking at the wrong things then.

Vingegaard getting a touch of those 2019 Tour of Poland jitters maybe with the expectation he should win and by a fair margin. A win today would help but there might be some long phone calls home if UAE bully him up the final climb.

Could well get interesting as there are 26 guys under a minute down on Vingegaard, so Visma can n't chase everyone who goes up the road. Some guys will be looking to make back some time from the TTT so could get spicy.
Just have Kuss, Tulett or Jorgensen follow the groups instead of trying to control it. Let other teams decide if they want to let those guys get a huge advantage

Stage start in 10 minutes
Broadcast starts in 2 hours
First big Multi-mountain stage
£33 a month
Probably have to listen to Blythe for the first half an hour
Half the Avenir peloton will have probably abandoned before that one starts

It will all be worth it to see marc soler attack on the penultimate climb in pursuit of the red jersey and dangle for 5 minutes.
Marc is already copping some heat on social media for his antics but I think sandbagging the tour with some questionable domestique work is a great means of preparation for Vuelta GC, Valverde did it for years.

In my opinion, Visma will just use all their domestiques to pace the peloton and make the race as hard as possible. When the last domestique is finished, Vingegaards attacks. It´s always the obvious tactic, when you have the strongest rider in the race..
