Kittel in the virtual yellow for about 2 minutes? :D

So they are saving some of the more average teams being Liquigas, Euskaltel, Geox and Katusha for last?

I think the Shack might win this one. They would probably do better on a longer course, but they seem to have a pretty loaded team for the TTT. Of course HTC, Garmin, and Sky will challenge as they always do.

Today is a good day. The vuelta starts so we get another 3 weeks full of action.

The last 2 years I've fallen in love with the Vuelta and the Giro. Before that I never watched them.

Radioshack for the win today, allthough I also predicted them to win the TdF TTT.

I always get mixed emotions with the Vuelta, as it also means summer break is coming to an end. Although this year I will be able to watch the whole thing.

My vote's on the Shack too.

Lucky the start is at 17.00 CET since the weather system is bring dry African heat over the Mediterranean region today.
The outlook is for the same until at least midweek.

Which riders suffer the heat the most/least?

The UCI continue to push their luck. This year, the race has it's earliest August start. Many will recall the heatwave last year, prior too and during the start.
Looking ahead, a couple of the early stages could get close to 40C and that's nearly as hot as the Volta!

Perhaps a sea breeze today I dont know?. But when they race inland it will be painful... Rather them than me.

UCI played passive here. It was Unipublic who pushed for an earlier start trying to draw more attention from people still enjoying their holidays. They've been even luckier as footballers are on strike this weekend and probably next weekend as well.

Plus its very handy publicity if you get the big guys who are in the media spotlight to do it as well, increases the exposure etc tec
