It was a good stage, esp with Michele moving up the GC. Now comes the wait for stage 5 of uspcc and the wonderful sight of bottle looking magnificient in yellow.:D :D

A bit out of point, but are you aussie or a dutch immigrant. I find it a bit weird for an aussie to cheer for rabo and all the other dutch riders and do not support cadel at all.

That's stupid. I'm not supporting Gesink or Mollema or Poels and I'm 100 per cent Dutch (that's not true but whatever).

Cadal is a chump tho.

I'm of dutch background etc. I don't mind aussies, but living here I get a little overwhelmed with the aussie support, so as a result I guess I have supported the dutch, probably more of a reason was my family influence regarding dutch support growing up.

I like to australia do well, but the dutch have my support to be honest. Just the way I feel.

I didn't even know the meaning of a chump had to google it, just shows how much of an Asian I am. Just what I thought, with the way you choose riders to support you couldn't be full Aussie.

Or just not the shape of last year. At Valdapenas he didn't come close to last year's performance either.

I wouldn't say the time gaps were completely inconsequential, Rodriguez takes 45 seconds on Wiggins today. But apart from Rodriguez, most GC-favorites were pretty close.

Apparently he did. Jens attacks says that Purito went about 10 seconds faster up Jaen this year than Anton last year, which means Nibali posted a very similar time to 2010.

The difference is that Purito is in better shape having skipped the Tour.

Have a better reason than that for calling it stupid please.

Yea, that's right, all people must support people from their home country, and if they don't it must be because they're not fully from that country...

(unless you're satirising exaggerated patriotism from Australians, in which case carry on regardless and ignore this irrelevant interruption)

I wasn't really considering the fact that he doesn't support cadel, but his huge support for Rabo, Vacon and all the dutch riders. It wasn't likely that he was a pure blood Aussie.

Why not? Angliru, for example, is American, but supports and talks of many of the Spanish teams and riders. Maybe they have an affinity for that country, or like the races or riding style typical of that country. Maybe they have a good friend who moved there, or comes from there. Maybe they had a holiday there and really enjoyed it.

Lots of reasons.

Is it Rodriguez fault that the man whose arse he was seeing most often in April decided not to come?

This climb was steeper than what Gilbert dominates on. No pure power but rather a long grind.

Poels afterall struggled here and he managed in Jaen. And Jaen was last year already too steep for Gilbert.

I stick by my opinion that Gilbert would not have been able to match Rodriguez here or Scarponi or even his soon to be ex teammate.

A lot of people are city-patriots and don't buy into the whole nation thing. I've been to the Manchester United boards and there are English people there who would prefer if the English football team did not exist at all.

Lots of reasons.

But its usually really uncommon. And Timmy never really supported any(not talking about cadel alone) Aussie riders.

A pure blood?

Let's just drop the nationality talk, before we enter 1940s territory...

To tie it all back together, why did Poels and Taaramae attack so soon?

Tough day for Kittel, finished 6 mins behind grupetto.

He was dropped in the cat2 climb with 60kms to go and his DS decided to leave him alone. Can't understand that decision when he's the rider giving visibility to the team in the race.
