Well...really? If those are jokes I can't follow, everything I know about Superman is what I already wrote...

I don't know exactly why Lopez was nicknamed Superman, but often there doesn't have to be a logical reason...it's just a nickname. It usually figuratively explains one or more of their characteristics on the bike. Why is Greipel called the gorilla? Does he walk around on arms and legs pounding his chest?

lopez is called superman because he was tearing down colombian cycling as a youth rider. even as a junior he would beat pro riders. one famous instance was a prologue in 2011 where he beat a fully juiced cardenas in time.
