In other news, Gianni Moscon finished 13th.

Let that settle in for a minute.

Gianni Moscon. Thirteenth. On the Angliru.

5 Sky inside top 19.

Moscon will need to make a decision on what to specialise in - Cobbles, Ardennes or Grand Tours.

He's being paid to do exactly what he's doing.

For some reason this makes me think of when Devolder finished 11th at the Vuelta. Moscon likely could have done something similar if racing for himself.

Devolder won minutes in a break, though

At least Nibali can take comfort in knowing that his team performed very well and will probably be even better next year.

Yes, his main helper on the climbs, Pellizotti, will be better next year...
By better I meant new signings like Pozzovivo

Are you sure they'll be so drastic as to sign a guy FIVE years younger?!

Next year three of the best climbing domestiques for Froome will probably be Thomas, Kwiat and Moscon. Two of them have already won a WT cobbles classic and the other one is 23 and finished 5th in paris roubaix this year.

Who thinks that Poels could have won the stage?

Superb racing by Contador. He will be missed.
Poels could've won, didn't look all that amused.

Lastly, this is the Great One's last ascent. May he rise to the final occasion.

Alberto Contador to win this bike race.

Red Rick confirmed psychic. PM me for lottery numbers

I didn't say he can't climb, I pointed out he won minutes in a break

Did Meintjes save his 14th place on GC ? I could not sleep this evening if I don't know the answer ;-)

God I dislike Poels and Froome so much.

Why? Mixed emotions.
On the one side, they gifted the stage, but on the other side did they have to make it so evident in the last 2km? Couldnt they just keep following Pelizzoti and then later Zakarin?

The gift was evident earlier, before last 2km.

Up to 12th :D

Meintjes would actually be a very good mountain domestique though considering how consistent he is. But he probably doesn't want to considering he left UAE
