Well I was well aware that he is the defending champion, but a little bit of realism wouldn't hurt. Better bring Thomas instead of him or a good domestique. Allthough I expect Cav to do domestique work for GB else it really is pointless.
You don't leave the defending champion at home. Even if the Worlds were contested in the Alps.

Swift can indeed handle a few hills, but this is an 260k race with 2 hills in it every lap. I'd be incredibly surprised if he's still in the bunch with 220km to go.
Yeah. Now mention another guy who you'd rather have seen there for Britain?

Thomas would have been a shoe-in if he hadn't been focussing solely on the track this year. He simply wouldn't have the endurance to compete.

Cav = defending champion. Really has to start.

Swifty - should possess some form/endurance after the Vuelta. I guess the only realistic alternative would have been Millar.

its the first time GB has been allowed a full squad (ever) so its a nice problem to have ;)

He hasn't shown any road form as of late. In Denmark he was dropped even on the flat stages and in Quebec/Montreal he was dropped with 100k to go or so.

Obviously it takes time to adapt to the distance of road racing again when coming right from the track.
OK, thanks. Makes sense then. I haven't really been following him lately.

Sean Yates on Sky's world TTT selection: "Alex, G, Flecha and Ian can drill it along the flats and then Sergio and Edvald can pace things up the climbs."

So they've brought two pure climbers, Henao and err...EBH, to do the pace-making on the climbs :p

And of course you're always right(check my sig lol). ;)

He's ok during a team time trial and I don't expect him to get dropped. But doesn't seem like a winning team to me.

It's not so odd he got selected. Chris Froome and Wiggins are their 2 best time trial specialists, but they're not in shape anymore. I don't know why Rogers isn't riding, but probably the same reason.

yeah I'm also correct in your sig. boonen dit nothing extraordinary this spring(with absense of cancellara). one thing I was wrong in though was he was in great shape in time.

I'm not saying you're wrong...But how can he be great in TTT's, and so bad in flat prologues?

Looking forward to seeing GB ride on the front all day to try and deliver a sprint finish for Cav. Obviously Swift is there for the leadout.

I assume you are joking, right?

I think now that Sky has won the tour and Olympics they have stopped caring about winning any more races this season.

Trade Teams for the WC TTT

For the first time trade teams will compete in the WC TTT.

Presumably the winning team riders all get rainbow jerseys. So in the following years races with TTTs who gets to wear the jerseys and when?

Indeed. And Leipheimer is pretty average against the clock this year.

Compared to how he's been in the past Leipheimer has been pretty bad in the TT this year. Some of it is probably due to his crash early in the year.

The team time trial explained here, the riders won't get rainbow jersey's but the riders will have a distinctive logo on their jersey the following year.
