"You may embed only 3 quotes within each other."

I think this needs fixing? It is very annoying to remove embed quotes manually
Solution would be to have it like before, where it only automatically quotes one, and not all the quotes within a quote. Otherwise it will get messy in some threads.

On the other hand; some posts makes more sense if you can see not only the quote being quoted but also quotes that are quoted in quotes being quoted. Did this even make sense?
Take this post for example; I could now, which I will, go on to say that the only 3 quotes within each other is a good rule, otherwise we could end up with "quote-towers", so to speak. However, if I was only quoting Netserk's post, and not Parrulo's post, then that comment wouldn't make sense.

Was this a Sky job perhaps? Deliberately make the forum unworkable and unreadable? Too much heat coming from this place? Didn't Brailsford have Benson on speeddial?

Can we bring back the option to delete a post?

Also, the search appears to be somewhat broken as I found out while spending a really long time last night trying to find a particular 2010 race thread. I played around with it for quite awhile and many results came up that made no sense and others that should have didn't for some reason.

Also, the font colour button doesn't work. You click on it and the color palette comes up but you can't actually select anything.

+1 to this

Also, please make enlarging font size a priority. People have been asking for it since the very beginning. It's distracting and strange to have the text about when a user edited his/her quote be big and readable and the actual post be small and harder on the eyes.

This is an understatement. It's completely ****ed.

Sorry if this has already been asked but do ignore lists no longer work?

the forum is going to be 100% unreadable without that.

Which is a welcome improvement, thank you.

However, the font size of what is in quote boxes is still uncomfortably small. It stands out by being on a different background colour, so there seems to be no reason for it to also be distinguished by size.

thanks, that's helpful, but the forum remains unworkable, unreadable.
a real pity. I'm not posting here again until CN have sorted out the forum.
Not out of protest, but because it really is unworkable, unreadable, at least to me.

Plus one. This is change just for the sake of it, its not an improvement. Or is it just to get more ads in? Fair enough but at least lets lose the acres of white and enlarge the font size.
Look this is, or was, the best cycling forum by miles and I would like to keep it on my favorites list.

however wtf with the scrolling script in the 'lil circles saying 'unread posts' ok i'm being soft but they are sending my eyes spinning.................headache bound
If I got it right, it's not meant to indicate unread posts, but rather something like "lively thread", i.e. many posts. Which is redundant because one can easily distinguish popular threads with many replies by number of orange squares saying number of pages.
So, can we perhaps get rid of the scrolling in the icon? It really adds to overall distraction while not adding any value.

I think so: thanks.

However, you will notice that I have had to misspell 'quote' to be able to present my thanks in context.

Some have complained about the limit of three deep on quotes, others have complained that the quote depth seems unlimited. I have argued that contributors should take responsibility for editing their own posts to make quotes relevant.

But what no-one has proposed is a need to always edit out any more than one quote manually which seems to be the current situation.

We have the multiple disadvantages of
  • not being able (without misspelling 'quote') to contextualise quotes,
  • no link to the quoted post to identify its context that way,
  • forced to manually edit out quotes that were embedded in what one quotes

your efforts are appreciated..................forum starting to look better

live coverage of races now reads clearer but why can i not navigate from there directly to the forum

Hi, in The Pelotoon thread there are a couple things:

Quite a number of posts are duplicated (under my name). The duplicated posts are the ones containing the drawings.

Some of the images are cut off. You can see the whole image if you right-click and open in a new tab, though. I suppose this new forum doesn't adjust to suit the size of images, so I'll keep them a specific width from now on.

Also, I'm not sure that everything copied over - the 'toons were based on links to articles or discussions in other parts of the forum, and the links were provided in the post. Plus, most of them had titles.

Seems like you've got the same problem I have with the Race Design Thread. The discussions will have copied over, however the URL for them will have changed, so every link provided in the post will be dead.

And there is at present no way to amend that because linking to individual posts is impossible.
