Re: Re:

Got it. Took a second, but thank you.

However, the older was was certainly easier, because you could simply click 2, 3, 4 posts you wanted to quote, then hit reply and start typing.

Still hoping for a solution to the cropped photos. Very disconcerting.

One request of my own-
Can the titles that appear on tabs be changed? They currently appear as "Cyclingnews Forum * View Topic - Thread nameXXXX." It would be more useful if the titles simply listed only the thread name (or put thread name first if you want to say Cyclingnews Forum, etc).

I frequently have multiple tabs open with different threads (particularly during multiple races like this past week), and it is currently impossible to immediately see which tab is for which thread, without hovering over or clicking to bring up the page.

Yep, I agree this would be useful. It's on our list of things to do.

I just found myself logged out after only around an hour of inactivity. I was used to having the forum open all day on a tab. If it is no longer possible to simply remain logged on indefinitely, or till the browser is closed, can the time at least be extended before one is logged out?

Yes, the login sessions should be lasting longer than this. I'll look to see what's causing this, probably just cookie expiry.

Also, I'm no coding expert, so how do I add a link to a post? In the old forum we had a URL button. Now I see things like "code" or "list" or [*] that look like they were written by web developers assuming the 98% of of us know what they are talking about. :)

Regarding adding a link, the tag (which is placed using the URL...r list of stuff to get fixed. Thanks, Chris

I can't see any signatures - and before you guys ask, yes, "display signatures" in my preferences is on.

On another forum I use the quick reply box auto-saves every few words or every time you pause for a while (not sure which). This is really useful for when browsers go haywire/connections drop. Any chance that could be added? I have a tendency to be verbose, particularly in the clinic and I hate having to type everything out twice or use Notes and copy and paste.

Also, the clicking to return to the posted message after hitting submit. Can it not just automatically take you there?

You are correct, its not 14pt - its 14px

What device are you using? Looks rather large on my devices.

I view on both a dual large screen Win7 machine (2 x 23" screens) and also a 15" Macbook. Google Chrome and viewing at 100% regular zoom.

The font is on the verge of being totally unreadable. To read it I have to lean forward and put my face near the screen.

Put it this way, I haven't bothered to look at any other thread and don't plan on coming back until it's fixed - it's impossible to stare at this forum for anything more than a few moments without getting a headache.

This is how it looks to me. It certainly is different to what you have.

URLs included with the bbcode tags will now open in a new window.

Font size inconsistency with signatures in quotes should now be fixed (or improved, at least). All post content (quotes or otherwise) should be one size, and the signature content slightly smaller.

Author names on posts (under the avatar) are now larger and more easily readable.

I've also added the name of the topic into the "Last Post" column on the board index. However, due to the way in which phpBB looks for a title on each individual post (including replies), rather than the thread itself, not all of the items in the "Last Post" column will have titles.

This could probably be dropped then fella if it's not going to be consistent. I'll just have to learn to live with it :)

Code:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/
This is a test. Trying to see if it makes a clickable link out of this.

Nope.

Any web developer out there want to explain to me how to make a clickable link?

How about how to make one that just says "Cycling News" for example, but takes you to http://www.cyclingnews.com.

[*url=http://www.cyclingnews.com/]Cycling News[*/url*] Without the asterisks. Won't work at the moment as url is turned off still.

If they are worried about spammers, couldn't they just for starters allow senior members to post links?

Or at least for starters allow clickable links from within Cyclingnews.com itself. Especially considering the Website Errors thread, where it seems to editor-people prefer if we post links to the page with the mistake.

I've been looking into the font complaints, and it looks as though there was an issue with some browsers not using the fallback fonts correctly. Everyone should now be getting the same font, which is clearer than the very narrow / squashed font some users were seeing. Please keep submitting screenshots and feedback if this isn't the case.

The pagination and other links at the bottom of a thread have also been restructured and reorganised, and should now be a bit easier to use. There were comments regarding the positioning of pagination etc, so hopefully it should now feel less cluttered and more intuitive.

That looks to be the intended font (aliasing is slightly different between PC and Mac).

OK. It's fine for me, just posted so you could see it :)

BTW thanks for allowing links!

Is it possible to make it easy to quote someone while using the Quick Reply? Speaking of which, it'd be nice if the font there was of the same size as in posts.

Cheers.

The Quick Reply is designed to be just text (to make it quick!) so I don't know how easy it is to start adding full reply features to it.

Agreed on the font size though - I'll get that done now.

Previously you'd have to click on a quick-reply button on a post to enable it, then there would be a box you could tick if you wanted your post to include a quote from that post. I don't really have an idea how to do it with this setup though.

A BBCode bar just over the Quick Reply text box would be nice as well.

Polls are working, though they look a bit hideous. I'll tidy these up - in the meantime, please let me know if you have any problems creating or voting in them.
