Was going to say Mendrisio, but realized Acf knew what poll results would be when setting it in the first place:eek:but I couldnt in all good conscience validate your obsession

No I wasn't.

Apart from Cadel, you pretty much have to be an sprinter.

Look deep at the history of the World Championship and see who the winners are. Then you will understand what I mean.;)

That's not the objective of the World Championsip. It needs to have more names to the winners other than sprinters.

With today's World Champioship I made my point again.

Well Bettini won all the classics except the cobbled ones, 2 worlds and the olympics.

I'd say that makes a viable worlds candidate.

Although I'm right with you when you suggest that a sprinter isn't a worthy world champion.

Igor Astarloa 2003, Paolo Bettini 2006 and 2007. Also a honourable mentions. Especially I loved 2007. Pat talking trash about Bettini in the days leading up to the event, and guess who he had to hand over the rainbow jersey....

Zolder and Madrid were a total disgrace from my pov, even if Cipo and Tornado Tom were great winners.

Best of the bunch, Mendrisio and Salzburg. Mendrisio from every point of view, it was just THAT good, and Salzburg because the last km gave me chills like no other (and it was a good course too).

Why Madrid? Only at the very end there was a small bunch. Actually the group was much smaller than in Geelong. Boonen is a very good survivor (if on form) and allthough he won bunch sprints at the time, he also was with the top on the Muur van geraadsbergen...
