You're probably right - but where's your money?? :)

Mine already went on Denis at 50-1, I could not resist those odds. :D

Agreed this is his last chance to win the Tour, I'm sure he can be competitive.

I think Menchov will do a decent ride in the Dauphine like in 2010. I really do hope that he will be in good shape for the tour because this is possibly his best chance to win. btw he should ride that Giant tt bike cause he always seems to do better on it.

Have you seen the Canyon TT bike they're riding this year?

Everyone on the team's raving about it, and it just looks fast and awesome as well

I have now. It looks pretty awesome I must say. Actually somewhat similar to the giant tt bike just a bit more stylish.

Evans by a margin. I would put a fiver as a bet for Andy because I want him to do well, but Evans by far

Can't quite understand why so many look to the Dauphine as an indicator for le tour. If one-week stage racing was a guide to GT success, then Wiggins would be a shoo-in for TdF. In my opinion it isn't and Wiggins isn't.

If one week stage racing was a guide to GT success, we'd have a lot of people picking Leipheimer. He's struggled this year, but he's often very strong in one week races.

Critérium du Dauphiné

42 Denis Menchov (Rus) Katusha Team +0:19:09

:(

Menchov's been around long enough to know how to train himself for a grand tour so I'd say he's just bluffing to ensure he's given darkhorse status. Menchov's never been interested in these one week tours anyway; it's the TDF that he wants to cement into a 3 grand tour winning status.

In 2010 he did the Dauphine and finished 25th at 14 minutes. He then went on to finish 3rd in the tour (2nd after the erasing of Contador) so i dont think its time to panic.

As some have already mentioned, if Menchov stays out of trouble and is in top shape, he can win the TDF. I could even see him contending next year, but this could be a great opportunity. I'd like to see him be more aggressive and attack once in a while. He is similar to Evans in that regard. I also agree that this years route will suit him more than most of the other top riders, so he should capitalize on that, although his Dauphine was anything but impressive. Hopefully he is just sandbagging and racing himself into form. Still, almost three weeks to the start.

Menchov is known in the peloton as the "silent killer". That's how he got 3rd in the 2010 Tour without any hype in the media or anyone noticing him. He's my dark horse to win the Tour this year, no matter how lack of results he appears to have.
