The BC track programme certainly isn't clean. I know of at least one prominent recent member of the squad that was doping with at the least the knowledge of other squad members. Also lolz at Wiggo living in a 'monastic regime'.

Where is your evidence R.0.t.O?

Knowing the team, the riders in the team and the regular testing they are subjected to, I'd very very very surprised if it were true.

whoops did I get a bit close to a sacred cow?

when it's got as far as me knowing, uksport already know.

once again. Do people think jens voight is clean? I like the guy so just wondering.

Jens is one of my favorite riders. He is tough as nails and rides with aggression and at the same time class. I like to think he is clean. If he was as strong as he is and at 170 lbs is also regularly climbing with the best I might question it, but in that sense he isn't. Like for instance, contador is the best climber in the world, only weighs about 130 pounds yet at the same time he is one of the best ITT in the world. That kind of data sets off huge red flags. Jens has always been pretty consistent. But who knows, I wouldn't be surprised in the least, if he hadn't at least tried doping at some point in his career.

I guess the point against him is that he is almost 39 years old and still quite good. Hes no gc contender but still does well in time trials and such. Would a 39 year old be this good in the pre doping era? Then again if jens voigt is doping, then that would suggest that absolutely everyone is doing it and i dont think he would be doing it too much.
But yeah great guy.

About that, how would you guys explain the general trend of more riders being in top form past their mid 30s? Back in the day, you'd be considered old at 30-31, and you wouldn't be in your prime for long after that. Now you have an entire team dedicated solely to work as an old people's motorhome.

Why do you think that is?
- More doping. Riders are more juiced so they conserve their form longer.
- Less doping, thus less damage to the riders' bodies and longer careers.
- Just better training methods, better diets, less racing and possibly more rational doping.

I made this point in a different thread but young riders these days are more protected and teams try to build them up for the future. i read before the milan san remo that one of the favourites - ebh, while considered very young today, would, had he won, in the history of milan san remo winners, not been one of the young guys. In the time of Merckx someone like Sagan would probably be sent by liquigas to the tour to hunt for stages. But today, i very much doubt he will be doing any gt's for a while and they will try to build him up for his late 20's.

Also considering how widespread doping is, shouldnt someone in their late 30's whos doping be doing worse than people in their 20's who are doping?

But other than those 2 points, it seems that it is the doping that keeps them going so late.

You know what they say these days, the 30s are the new 20s. Seriously though, better nutrition, better health care in general, more advanced training techniques, and technology have made this all possible. In america this has become common in all sports. Even in team sports that are the most brutal on one's body like football, careers are significantly longer now.

I certainly don't think it is doping. Doping is the one constant in the sport and one of the most popular doping techniques today, blood doping, is also one of the oldest.

Cofidis was in a big doping including Gaumont himself. He retired, wrote a book and admitted, and according to him Moncoutie and Tombak were the only 2 riders of all of Gaumont's teammates during 7 years at Cofidis that did not dope.

But... but... that would mean Matt White and Stuey O'Grady were dopers?!? It can't possibly be!
