lol, I didn't hear of the quotes on the front page before I made my decision:

He did not reply to our proposal," Rihs told L'Equipe at the presentation of the 2011 Tour de France. "As I don't have any news from him, I expect him to go with the Schlecks. And as we made him a very good offer, I suppose that there is more money elsewhere."

But according to Andy Schleck, 'Spartacus' will not remain his teammate at the Luxembourg outfit next year. "I think that Fabian will sign with BMC... that's life,"

So... which one is bull****ting. I tip Andy. Schlecks it is.

Looks like it's Pegasus afterall

you'd have to ask just how informed Andy Schleck would be? he's a key part to the project but would he really be kept up-to-date which each nuance during talks ?_?

Fabian didn't split from Riis until all the drama started happening. I think he's more motivated for stability more than cash. i don't think that he'll get the stability he wants from Team Lux. Think there's gonna be a lot of drama with that team....although a lot less if Contador is suspended and Saxo 2.0 is no longer a contender.
Personally when I first started watching this I expected him to go to Fly V but since they probably wont get a protour license that takes them off the table. Next in line would be a team that wants to make a name for themselves and will give him anything he wants. Sky or BMC, comes to mind.

It is obviously Team Schleck. If he had signed for any other team then that team would have already trumpeted the signing. Team Schleck is the only team that is keeping everything quiet, including who their sponsors are.

that's a good point.
even if Fabian asked for secrecy I don't thinkt that BMC would be able to keep it quite.

does anyone know what the status is of Pegasus/Fly V protour status is?
Really can't see Fabian going to a team if their status is up in the air.

You think Cancellara will go to a team that might not get invited to many races that Canc wants to win?

You crazy.

Cancellara on the team = invites. Not that I think he'll go to Pegasus, but if he does they'll get to ride any race they want to. Except for the Ardennes classics, maybe.

Not what I meant, fixed with an edit, though a beer if you can pick it.

I'm going to say that being a cyclist, you'd probably want a European beer, even if you're not in Europe. Perhaps Belgian, maybe Leffe.

I'd bet on BMC for these reasons:
A) Andy Rihs has very deep pockets and would dearly love to have THE Swiss champion of champions on his team.
B) Fabian has, in the past, expressed some uh..shall we say DOUBTS about the Shlecks and their ability to put together an effective organization.
C) Fabian is a Swiss and extremely proud of that. I have to believe that he'd prefer being on a real Swiss team (forget about where they are registered).
D) BMC will build him any bike he wants. He's a TT specialist and he's going to be looking for an hour record soon. BMC can give the equipment to do it.
E) He would be the main man at BMC
F) More stay at home time
The ONLY negative I can see for him is a possible tax hit, and I'm sure a smart Swiss can deal with that.
Grumpy

I like all these reasons, and the fact that your name is Phil. Good times.

I'm going to put forward the theory that maybe Cancellara has a contract with Pegasus conditional on a ProTour license, and if they don't get it, he goes elsewhere.

Yes, issoisso's could be a bingo. :)

One thought/only little doubts about BMC: Perhaps possible that Phinney was sure that Cancellara won't come to BMC when he signed.
I think Phinney wants the big cobblestone now, even if he speaks of "learning".
He can take it, if he doesn't follow Hincapie's wheel. :D

Anyway, I prefer a surprise. BMC or TSchleck would be too boring for me. But if I were Cancellara I would pick BMC.
Then again I think, it would have already been announced, if it was BMC.

BroDeal, theyoungest is right. Cancellara who is a world class rider who cause organisers to give invites to Pegasus for whichever races they wants to go to. Even if they don't get a Protour license and FC, they will still get a ride in some top races and get use to riding in the european pro scene.

I think its expected that they will get at least one grand tour for next year without pro tour license.

So RSA will let Pagasus into Lombardia because Canc is on the team? How about LBL? Both are races that FC wants to win but has no history of contending for the win, and in Lombardia's case the Italians have a lot of small Italian teams that want to ride.

Evans already tried this stupidity, and he ended up busting his hump in spring to get BMC race invites, preventing him from devoting all his training to the Giro.

Yes that 10% total tax including pension that you pay in Switzerland is going to be a killer.....

You got that from the one incident in 2009 at the tour? FC and CE go out for training rides sometimes.
