I honestly think this is the toughest GT of the year to predict. In the Giro it was all about Contador, the Tour I believed would be between Froome and Quintana, which proved correct but this one is close.

I think Quintana will show the best form from those who did the Tour but I think Astana will be strong with 2 contenders. I just have a sneaky feeling that Surpassing these will be a fresh Pozzovivo.
Last week could end up being the main problem for Pozzovivo. He has improved as a TTer, but he's vulnerable on those downhill finishes. Speaking about that, does anybody know if the descents from Puerto de la Casera and Puerto de Cotos are technical? They could be difference makers.
You're right, especially after that horrid crash at the Giro and last year too when he almost hit a cat - the crashes might've left him slightly scared of descents. I would be. I guess a cat will never run out in front of him in a race but still

The descent from la Quesera does not have difficult turns due to close curvature but most of them have limited visibility because of the forestry. I doubt the road will be resurfaced.

I see it coming down to Aru or Landa, I think the TDF guys will still be a bit worn down from a tough end to the tour and Aru and Landa have the luxury of also being on Astana who appear to be in really good shape heading into this one.

Contador will win.

He will "come off the beach" with "no prep". Despite suffering from "terrible allergies", "a racing heart", "a compound fracture of his leg", "not one, but two dislocated shoulders", "a broken wheel", "(add whiny excuse)", "(add another whiny excuse"), and "(add yet another whiny excuse)", he will promise to be at his best "after the second rest day" (as he always does, i.e. 2010 TDF).

He will then tell his adoring, mesmerized fans that this still does not compare to his greatest performance, matching repeated 600 watt climbs by the uber-talented chicken in 2007.

Do we think astana will ride like in the giro? I would expect anyone competing to the end of the tour would be exhausted by week 3 that being the case
