One is directed at a public figure. One is directed at a forum member. Per the rules of the forum (and common sense) one is allowed and one is (theoretically, but lately not enforced) not.

You have a (mildly said) funny "common sense"... So per your definition, public figures can be pissed on, literally, but forum members not? Who are you to heave yourself and other forum members above others?

In no way do I trust, or like Wiggings... but now I fully understand why he called some fans wankers. In hindsight his rants seem absolutely plausible...

Wiggins outbursts against the fans was also a realization that he would never escape scrutiny and earn recognition. He wanted people to believe the miracle. He tried to change public opinion against the doping charges. But now he realizes that it will not work. So the ranting has stopped, and he has since spat out the dummy.

Wiggins was never going to win Roubaix, especially after all the publicity he got going for it. He should've kept his gob shut and rode the race, if he won then make all the pronouncements you want as winner, not before. Now he just looks an idiot. Rowe even bettered Wiggins 9th of last year.

I suppose Pro Conti level is where Wiggins is at nowadays.

It seems like months since a sky poster actually made an argument about Sky being clean. A bunch of you have almost all at the same time, including 1 new poster, shifted to this single narrative about how sad everyone in the clinic will be when wiggins wins Paris Roubaix/ Porte wins Giro (now shifting to other events further up the calendar). These now take up most of the sky contributions to the thread, with the exception of the insults del and a few others offer instead.

What does that have to do with anything though. Yes plenty of people here hate sky. The reasons for that have been covered a million times.

These are obvious flaming attempts aimed at sceptic and maybe a few others, purely to get a reaction. You repeat again (wiggins will piss you lot off, smiley face) sceptic reacts with "Wiggins is such a fraud" and you are happy because you got the reaction.

Pathetic internet bullying.

With that in mind, the hour record that is, seriously, it will be very interesting to see how far he can go. Alex Dowsett is scheduled to attempt the record on the 2nd of May 2015, and he will have the Rohan Dennis record of 52.491km in is sights. Tough mark to beat. So Wiggins will be either chasing the Dennis mark or the Dowsett mark. To put 52.491km into perspective as a benchmark it will certainly be a tough distance to beat. On the 23rd of July 1993, Chris Boardman at he age of 24 set a new UCI best human effort record of 52.270km at he Velodrome du Lac in Bordeaux, France. This distance was bettered by The Flying Scotsman, Graeme Obree at the age of 28, again at the Velodrome du Lac on the 27 April 1994 with a distance of 52.713km. On the 2 September 1994, Miguel Indurain became the first individual to surpass 53km with a new record distance of 53.040km. On the 22 October 1994, Tony Rominger took a huge chunk out of the record with an incredible distance of 53.832km, only to obliterate his own record just 14 days later, on the 5 November 1994 with a shocking distance of 55.291km !!.

Disregarding, for the reason of huge aerodynamic benefits, ie. the superman-style position, Chris Boardman's 56.375kms which was a new record set on the 6 September 1996, and given the blatantly obvious fact that Tony Rominger was doped for his two attempts with Dr Michele Ferrari by his side, it has to be said that Indurain's mark of 53.040km, even though it came near the end of a long hard season, is a distance that both Wiggins and Dowsett will have difficulty surpassing (do not need to beat) in order of course to achieve a new Unified Hour Record distance (current distance to beat 52.491km for new record) but not a UCI best human effort record.

I for one am not looking forward to the 1000th edition of bots trying to not deal with the fact that Wiggins is producing power numbers only possible with doping.

It will certainly. But honestly I cannot see it happening. I cannot see any way that Wiggins could possibly further the UCI best human effort times of Boardman, Obree, and Indurain by much, if at all, when given the quality of these riders, and their abilities against the clock. If he does, and even beats/matches Rominger's times, then it will certainly be one of the greatest performances in cycling history, and the skeptics will have a field day once again.
