Warms the cockles of my heart the joy overflowing in this thread. Gloating is an admirable trait

I think it's probably better than if he raced, getting dropped before the final five.

To be honest I'm tired of the circus. I don't know if he does it intentionally but it detracts from the sport overall

Even as a brit, I personally don't really care whether Wiggins wins or not as I'm a fan of cycling not of any particular riders.

But I now hope he returns and wins something big again just to make the bitter, joyless crowd on this thread eat their words. With an attitude like this I just don't understand what you get out of following the sport.

The first thing I thought when he was ruled out of the Tour was that he would get back into training and prepare for the Vuelta. A podium there would at least rescue a crumb of success from a difficult season.

So Wiggins DNS for the TDF...apparently a (diplomatic ?) problem with his knee! The left one that had a bandage at the Giro possibly?

Well Froome gets #1 so that makes things clearer at least.

I'm not surprised in the least. I've been saying since last year I didn't expect Wiggins would have the form or motivation in 2013. Looks like I was right.

Now Sky can put a team player in there that can actually be a benefit to Froome and the team, so that's good.

Now Froome is unleashed this should be fun!! Though I would have prefered to see Wigans beaten on the road and not by default

It would be tempting to say he do it with purpose, but I seriously doubt it.
A tour winner - no matter how you won it, would always try to defend or at least honor the race with his presence if possible.

Not that I believe it would have done any difference if he raced, I just wanted to see how he would react to a class act competition from Froome, AC, Andy and the rest. The Vuelta seems to be a target now, welcome to the Shark show Wiggo... ;)

I am sad if he misses the Tour. The champ should be there + I like the continouation fo the Sky drama + I would like the World to see the result when Wiggo meet world class climbing competition (imagine: "brick meets face")

Im confused. Were Nibali Pinot, Rolland, VDB not all outclimbed by Wiggins last year at the tour?

Personally I'd rather see Henao given a chance at the Vuelta and the course suits him better than BW, but it wouldn't surprise me if BW gets given the chance for some redemption as you suggest. Get ready for more forum drama if that happens though. :D

Bad news. The only GC rider with a hint of personality is out. :(

Yea cause he was a great benefit for the race.

Sadly enough we'll get no lol's when he gets dropped.

Big surprise here... Brit defending Wigans, didn't see that one coming one bit... (lol just kidding Hitch, I know I am not one to talk ;) )

Wigans should be happy anyways, last year he did the Tour and absolutely hated it

Anyway it seems i'm right.

Wiggins doesn't want to ride against Contador in a GT :D

I can't wait for the british journalists to say to the tour winnner of this year "But there was no wiggins this year"
