Disappointing that Wiggins could not be bothered to pay Froome back for his help last year. Who would be surprised if we have seen the last of Wiggo on a bike now?

This is certainly a thread the forum can be proud of

Even as a brit, I personally don't really care whether Wiggins wins or not as I'm a fan of cycling not of any particular riders.

But I now hope he returns and wins something big again just to make the bitter, joyless crowd on this thread eat their words. With an attitude like this I just don't understand what you get out of following the sport.

I don't know what yall are complaining about. If there are posts you dont like, why not quote them and challenge them rather than these generalizations blaming the entire forum for something and not even making clear what that is.

Im personally very disapointed he wont make it. It would have been good to see him fall to earth after talking himself up as wanting to win the tour this year, and it would have been hillarious to see him win (hes already won it once so i dont really care if he ends up winning it twice thrice or even 7 times).

I'm amazed someone with such a heads I win, tails you lose attitude is not able to take a personal victory from this, after your impressive success in taking personal offence at so much to do with Wiggins.

Hitch wants to see Wiggins fail. Now we won't know what would happen if Wiggins was there. Some british journalist might even downgrade the future winner now cause no wiggins. ****ing idiots...

I understand Hitch, i also wanted to see the fail :(

Many of use who make jokes about it are (i think) all disappointed. Seeing Wiggins fail is something we've been looking forward to all year.

At least we've the giro fail ;)

He will go down in history as being gifted a Tour de France.

A race like never should be given to anyone.

Total farce.

He wasn't gifted anything and records will show he didn't have 1 bad day and lose a single second to any GC rival in the mountains. Ok his advantage was much more because of the amount of TT but he still showed he was super strong.

Froome helped him a lot with Wiggo 2nd wheel but the others couldn't follow in 3rd, 4th 5th wheel ect.

So by your logic Evans was gifted 2011 because Contador was tired after Giro and he could out-TT Schleck.

Which he has no chance of winning whatsoever.

Will he have many worthy opponents that haven't riden the tour?

Nibali but he most likely won't aim for GC.

Wiggins has a chance, small but he has one.

Let's be honest everybody, Wiggo is just making this whole **** up so that he can concentrate on the big prize and his real goal this season: the Vuelta a mother****ing España.

He will soft pedal the Vuelta helping Henao then unleash the force and take the Worlds by storm!!!! :D:D

No chance imo. The TT is hilly and there are like 14 short, steep MTF's. He'll lose minutes just in terms of bonus seconds, and the hilly TT won't be enough to get it back.

The competition in the Vuelta always looks like it will be bad before the TDF. But a lot of strong GC riders will decide to ride Vuelta after TDF, due to crashing out/illness etc.

His giro fail didn't last long enough

It was a gift. The course was designed for him. It was the lightest win in history. There was nothing memorable about it.

And yes a fully fit Contador would have smashed Evans in 2011.

sad to see a defending champion not starting

but at least the haters won't have their favourite rider

now that Wiggo does not start, will the haters still hope for a Froome victory (the worst possible scenario they were looking for: seeing Wiggo crushed by Froome) or now they'll cheer for anybody but Sky?

Oh really nice Giro-Tour double Sir.
DNF-DNS double,Il Pirata is proud of you:eek:

Yep after all that smack talking we get nothing. Wiggins is a primadonna and can only win if things go perfectly his way. I bet he doesn't win another grand tour.

Funny: that though crossed my mind too. That would sure raise some big flags and earn Wiggins a life time membership in the Clinic section.

I like the first part of your take better though: even at 80%, he could have been a big help for Froome. Not so much with regards to pacing in the climbs, but on stages like 10 and 11, where I guarantee we'll see big names caught in bordures.

Too bad: win or lose, I would have liked to watch Wiggins in July and witnessed a re-make of 1986. ;)
