Ah, F1 you mean? Spending what, £300m on it?

And amazing Athletics and Golf coverages ? BBC is one of the best stations on world concerning sport that you don't need to pay for, maybe not cycling, but the other sports.

The bbc have absolutely no interest in sport, other than those engaged in by the quango classes.

Watching sky-sunday is great revision for the average family's 2 annual skiing trips.

The "quango classes", whatever they are, probably aren't the main viewers of motorsport which appears to be the main sport the BBC actually broadcast. Not just Formula 1 but MotoGP and a pile of other crap.

Didn't hear they've given up on it then, and approached sky to ask them to bid for it?

And F1 is very barely a sport.

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite glad the BBC don't bother - over the last 15 years Sky have consistantly shown they can take over a sport from the BBC and do the job much much better.

I went to the Netherlands last year to watch the Giro. Wiggins came accross as a bit of an @rse. The rest of the guys were spot on though.
I always got the impression Wiggins and Millar are a lot alike; both fun-loving and a bit too partyminded at times (Millar with the Cofidis days, Wiggins with the drinking), both prone to be a bit temperamental on the bike (bike throws on Angliru, at Contursi Terme and at Mendrisio), and prone to say the odd idiotic thing or get a bit carried away in the moment when doing well (the Champions' League is a TTT in the Tour of Qatar now?), but mostly pretty decent guys when you don't catch them at a bad time.

How is the British media treating the fact that Froome is in red? You'd think Sky sports would be all over this? What about the papers?

There was about 3 lines under 'other news' in the sports supplement of a broadsheet daily that I looked at.

I have Sky news on in the background while I work, and there has not been a mention of the Vuelta or Froome/Wig today.

That's pretty sad. I know there's the athletics World Champs going on, and the EPL just started, but still.

Or that he (and/or Sky) felt Chris Froome, the new leader of the Vuelta, deserved pride of place on the Team Sky website report. Good grief.

Is Froome the new leader? He's ahead currently, but I don't know much about him. Does he have the climbing chops to compete for the podium in the tough mountain stages to come in a 3 week grand tour? I'm not seeing anything in the palmares of his short career to indicate he can do it.

All I know is that he was strong in the stage 9 MTF.

I suspect they will still keep Brad and and just leave Chris out of Dom duties for the time being. No definitive descion made yet.

It's time for some of the others to step up. Loftqvist, Zandio, Possini and Cioni can all climb a bit. Time to see them I think.

Totally agree. They've all been fairly non-exisitent, I wonder of thats deliberate.

I think Lofkvist will be good on the climb tomorrow and set temp until another team like liquigas takes it up to try to hurt Wiggins.

Its possible but after seeing how super strong Brad was on Sunday I think will be happy to hang on and wait full Angrilu to take big time.

The disgrace is that even during the Tour, there is nothing until the last day and then the news that Cav won the last stage and some guy from (insert country) won the overall is given 20 seconds AFTER a 2 minute report about the latest f1 crap.

So 1/17th or 18th or whatever of F1 is seen as significantly more important than the ENTIRE tour de France.

And they claim to be the bearers of impartiality. ****s.

+ 1 Hitchy boy. The total lack of cycling on BBC is a disgrace.
They are not neglecting, but ignoring the sport.

I will admit that this is one of the few things that really gets my goat up. I don't like bashing peoples passions or other sport but the coverage given to F1 in comparison to cycling is disgust.

World what? Sky could give a **** about any sport other than football football football, cricket, football, darts football, football, football, rugby, football and football.

The programmes that play on so called sky sports news are called football today and football tonight.

One could go on and on about the stupidity of this channel, but its better to just save ones breath.

Road cycling, definitely, but when anything track related is taking place they're all over it like a rash. I'm sure I remember an open live thread as well as a live stream on the front page of the BBC Sport website for a track cycling ''World Cup'' event a few months back...

The problem is that I don't see 2m Brits sitting down on Sunday lunchtime to tune in to cycling. They (the British public as well as the BBC) are heavily invested in motor sport. Cycling does not have that historical investment. You and I may not like it, but that's the reality. Oh, and their £200m contract with Bernie The Dwarf has nothing to do with the sports' news-worthiness.

All British cyclists with the exception of Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton are under appreciated. The average Brit does not understand how f*cking hard the sport is.

Thanks for correcting me. I should indeed have used the term road cycling.

Obviously a case of inaccuracy on my part. Road cycling was what I meant, as stated above.

To be fair, I tuned in earlier tonight and they had a pretty big segment (several minutes) talking with Dave B about the last few days of the Vuelta and looking ahead to the Tour of Britain.

But BBC Radio 5 have been sending a commentary team to the Tour for years now. There's live commentary most days on 5 Live Extra and the website. They had a 90 minute preview programme too.

BBC TV don't show it because ITV own the rights and do a good job of it. Their highlights show gets very good ratings.

Saying the BBC ignore the Tour is BS, frankly.

I never said they ignore it, might want to quote other people for that.

Pfff, radio 5, their 5th radio station and thats supposed to mean something?

They dont show it on the news. Its supposed to be one of the biggest sporting events in the world and they dont even show it on the news.

I know you like to play Devils advocate but its pretty difficult to argue in the face of that, and Radio 5 isnt going to save you.

I think ITV 4 covering the Vuelta is a pretty big step forward for us. A ''paradigm shift'' even. The Olympic road race is a huge opportunity. The coverage will be massive and if Cav wins then we might see a big change in our sport in the UK. Hopefully.
