setting aside all the polemic aspect of "how the Tour was won"-which wasn't of my liking at all- It's fair to express my congratulations to Mr Bradley Wiggins for his Tour victory:)-after all-its the Tour & to get your name written in cycling history among the best isn't a easy task. I also hope British cycling gets the proper acknowledgment & boost the practice of the sport there, as a result of Wiggo & Sky's achievement...

Title is a bit misleading, should be "Too much pressure made it hard for Tour to be enjoyable", anyone with a brain can understand that.

Contador, Nibali and quite a few other top riders can enjoy the Tour, no matter how much the pressure they received. That is the quality of the true champion. I find it hard to believe that fans can enjoy the Tour while the riders themselves find no fun at all in the competition.

When did they tell you? I'm sure Contador had a great time during the 2009 TDF and 2010 can't have been a lot more fun...come on.

In cycling and even more so in the tour there will always be that kind of suspicion, pressure, and stress. Get used to it Wiggo, and enjoy the good parts.

It seems to me a little insulting to all the other cyclists that have strived to win the tour to then say I didn't enjoy it. For any other cyclist in the world being in yellow for just a day or winning a single stage would be dream come true. Wiggins was in yellow for 14 days, won 2 stages, and the overall yet he says he didn't enjoy it?

couldn't said it better myself. As a yellow jersey wearer, you are the leader of the whole pro-cycling peloton, and there is certain image to maintain. But I am not surprised at all considering how constantly people saying Froom is the strongest and Wiggins' response to doping accusations.

after hearing the nbc coverage during the Vuelta of "Froome being the strongest rider at the Tour," and Wiggo showing his wheel sucking prowess, I wonder what he thinks of Froome now ? :D

Ah, Wiggins talking about "doping and other nonsense talk". Reminds me of his speech five years ago.

Oh no it doesn't.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. "Nonesence talk" to describe questions about doping is bizzare from a guy who used talk about nothing but.

Didn't he say it was time to get a clean tour winner a year ago? :D

I think he'll start talking about doping again around 21st of july 2013 orso ;)

Why insulting? I am sure there are plenty of people that have reached the pinnacle of their sport only to realise that they don't get the satisfaction or joy they were expecting. I am sure there were a few times wear he did enjoy it but the pressure and the stress was probably never far behind.

I have read plenty of interviews where sports people find it more of a relief then anything else when they win rather than a feeling of joy or elation.

At least he tells the truth about it which so many people beg him to do..

Brad made a concious (and often stated in public) decision a few years ago to not talk or think about doping, or even pretend it exists. He was focussing too much on what he believed other people were and weren't doing in the peloton and, as you would expect, the result was it negatively impacting his performance. It's perfectly normal, therefore, to now not talk about it at all and talk about and focus on only the things he can control. Anything else is wasted energy. Of course, for those who want blood, I realise this will be dismissed as even a possibility.

Only wiggins has talked about doping since then so your theory makes no sense. He's gone after contador many times. He said he doesn't trust the landis comments. He said Evans was the first tdf winner we could believe in.

Doesn't sound like someone who decided to just stop thinking about doping . His friendship with lance however does sound like someone who has changed his opinions.

Because there are so many other cyclists who would love nothing more than to be in Wiggins position in the tour. It is a dream of many cyclists to win the Tour de France and countless cyclists have tried and are still trying to achieve winning it yet when it happens for Wiggins he says he did not enjoy it. Maybe insulting isn't quite the right word for it but I can't think of another way to word it. He should be happy that he won the Tour de France, saying that he's not happy about it gives me the impression that he is not a very deserving winner of the tour.

He should have known going into the tour he would have to deal with pressure, stress, and suspicion. In my opinion he should just get over it and be happy that he won the Tour de France.

I have no doubt he is happy he won, but that is being heavily weighed down by the negativity so many people are throwing at him. It's quite sad, he just won the Tour, he should be celebrated and not questioned.
