Wiggo keeps changing his mind. I think Froome is ready to punch him.

Seriously, this guy is not well. His erratic behavior continues.

I'm sure that Froome is wondering when exactly did Wiggins intend to return the favor and work for him? It appears it won't be in 2013 since he's going for both the Giro and Tour unless Wiggins plans on doing the Vuelta too but at Froome's service.

Yeah he'll help him alright! The same way Hinault helped Lemond in 86. :D

you really think Wiggins will be able to do much in the tour when Contador attacks?

Froome will just jump after him and that's that.

Froome should call himself lucky that contador is there, that way he has a reason to go away from Wiggins.

I don't think Froome is worried.

The point that I was clumsily trying to make is that Froome is deserving of having a team dedicated to him when he's at his best. Wiggins can say and do what he wants since he has brought Sky what they coveted. It's quite strange that he would make this statement to the media with absolutely no reference to Froome. I'm surprised the media didn't bring Froome's name up during this conversation because they are all very much connected.

It's just talk. The fact that he, as defending Tour champion, is not focused on defending his title but winning the Giro, tells you everything you need to know IMO--(he doesn't think he can win the Tour based on the course). This is all face, saving talk.

I have impression that people here didn't actually watch the interview.
He clearly said he'll be there at the Tour for Froome, and try to make the podium.
So, he'll ride the Tour as Sky's back up option.
Froome stays the leader.
Anyway, targeting the Giro and riding the Tour with podium in his mind deserves respect.

I don't think it's because of the course ;)

Too many dodgy ciggies!

Don't think he'll show up for much this year. Too much drinking to be done!

As current patron, Wiggins is entitled to defend his jersey, and it makes sense to take two contenders to the Tour, especially since presumably they'll take EBH as their sprinter/puncheur, so effectively can have another climbing domestique. remember Sky were a man down inside the first week yet were able to control the peloton for much of the rest of the race once Wiggins was in yellow.

The parcours doesn't suit Wiggins and as has been pointed out he's unlikely to be able to match Contadors/Rodriguez's attack in the high mountains, so Froome may be Plan A and Wiggins PLan B, but they may go in more reactive than last year, where the went in with one purpose and stuck to it and their tactics doggedly for three weeks. Better opposition and opponent's form may have prevailed against it, but a relatively weak peloton was easy pickings (No AC, Rodriguez, Hesjedal, Schleck, out of form Evans) in which case having someone capable of people a lone-gunman on the mountains like Froome showed he is acapable of may be the way to go.

I unfortunately can't watch video's on my job. I think it's a shame and negatively effects my ability to do my job at my best. :D

You have good excuse. Speak with your boss, I'm sure he'll understand... It's about productivity.
First part of the interview is misleading, and you could conclude he's going for the victory in both races, but at the end he's saying what Froome said in his interview.

The part that amazes me is when he compares preparing for the one day Olympic race which they lost to preparing for the TDF after riding the Giro. What planet is this guy on?

I didn't understand it that way.
More like that there were some uncertainties about how his body will respond to prolonged effort (demanded by Olympics), similar to uncertainties about the same thing, or peaking twice in 5 -6 weeks span, in the double case.
But you're right, two Grand Tours and a Grand Tour paired with a time trial are hard to compare. Although uncertainty seems to be the same.

When did this become the case? One tour win does not a patron make.

As many people here were amazed that Wiggins didn't even want to defend the Tour and miss it early in Nobember when he hinted at doing Giro - Vuelta , I would guess for many it is.

Wiggins saying he wants to do the giro makes him a patron?

If he wins it, then he would next year expected to come back to defend it ( at least many people think that after their reaction to when he said he might not do Tour in November).

I take word patron, as you won the race and you'll come back defending it.

I don't really believe that, however many as I said I think do.

Is Chris Froome his opponent?

you can say that. Since he's been making different comment about riding for froome and now.. attempt for podium. The way I see it.. attempt for podium means when contador and andy start riding away in the mountain, and froome try to chase.. guess who will get the buzz!.. "GET BACK PRONTO!!!!!:D:D

And if wiggin said he tries to "podium" (which is wiser than saying flat out giro/tour double), that means he thinks he can beat andy then? (well my guess for podium will be alberto, chris and andy (or evan if he's back to his 2011 form).. Boy, I REALLY REALLY hope Andy is back to his form though.. I do. I miss his whining about everything :D. But I have to admit he and alberto lit up the mountain.

That doesn't make you patron in my book. Kids are grading on some very serious curves around here.
