Yes, I distinctly expressed my opinion. The forum doesn't need another mass extravagancy. Wiggins, Cataldo - Rodriguez, Valverde; Сontador - Rodriguez, Valverde. The thought is clear.

Sky and Wiggins just threw it down today. They came here to win. Wiggins is no joke and obviously riding well. I think we shall see some good racing ahead because of it.

Excellent race to see where Wiggins is at the moment, primarily regarding his weaker side - climbing.
The route is quite mountainous and there are some true climbing specialists in the field.
It's good for these climbers as well. They have opportunity to see how (if) the Sky train can be derailed.

To me it looks like inside Wiggins there is a classics hardman just itching to be set free and dish it out (well - look where was born FFS) - I hope after this year some time in the gym next Winter building a couple of kg upper body strength will see a proper classics campaign.

Wiggo/Stannard/Geraint should deffo be at the pointy end of RVV and P-R

I didn't hear it but it was probably Kirby exaggerating because Wiggins briefly got a gap on Cataldo and Lopez on the descent and waved to them to catch up. There was nothing in it at all really and Porte called him (Kirby) out for it on twitter.

Was it Kirby who was commentating on Oman and made out Froome and Contador had a big altercation when they were clearly leaning their heads together to talk.

I'd say it wasn't awful, losing 26 seconds to Purito and Quintana, but given how confident the Sky DS's sounded about his chances it must be viewed as pretty disappointing.

It's difficult to know where his form is in relation to last year considering that there wasn't a stage in PN or Romandie for that matter that came anywhere close to today's 4800m of climbing.

Only six weeks to go until the Giro starts. He has work to do.

No, not really a awful individual performance for Wiggins. Certainly not a good performance, but not really bad either.

However it was an awful performance for the Sky team and their train IMO. Their control everything and neutralize all attacks didn't really work this time. If only Purito and Quintana were going to the Giro. Then we would have a real race.

I think it looks rather good (remember guys, before the CD 2011 no one thought he could even ride like that with 2009 being an anomaly in a "soft pedaled ITT) and certainly a lot better than could be expected after Oman. These were two stages difficult stages...now I'm not sure at what tempo they were raced so it doesn't necessarily mean a lot, i.e. TDF stages with less climbing are a lot harder than many crazy Giro/Vuelta stages due to the pace/field.

Last I checked Wiggins is not a mountain goat or a hill sprinter so there was no reason to think he could win a one-week stage race without an ITT. Add a 15km ITT and it would be business as usual for him.

Yeah, not a very good team, other than Uran there's not a lot of talent there, this won't be the case at the Giro and if he climbs like this, people are going to be moaning that it's boring, that we knew the result before the race started, etc...but cycling does have its mysteries sometimes.

Nibali and Astana are more than good enough to ensure there's a real race. The third week is also incredibly difficult so the ability to recover in comparison to your rivals will be absolutely critical.

If Rodriguez and Quintana have attacked earlier today, maybe Wiggins would lose more time.
I think they've been cautious, but shouldn't had to. Sky's train has peeled off quickly. That certainly wasn't planned.
Wiggins, himself, can consider he passed one more test. Comparing with where he was six weeks ago, this is rapid progression.

Henao and Kiryienka will add significant quality I think. Still the parcours in the Giro is tough to control with a train stage after stage. Sky may need to be a bit smart and flexible with the tactics.

Wiggins style of racing simply needs a counter weight. Without that weight (as in the Tour last year) an entire race could be dull for neutral fans. Impressive sure, but pretty undramatic.

On paper the Giro parcours offers enough chances for Wiggins' opposition to make the race imo. The riders needs to step up.
