Amateur climb. Bring on the Zoncolan! And for fun add the Angliru too. Let's see Mr. Wiggins TT his way up that.

Both of which aren't in France and one of which Brad did OK on last year. The closest that they have in France is Ventoux (well, that they use in the Tour, anyway), and even 2009 Brad didn't do too badly on that.

Honestly, Wiggins can climb! It's not even up for debate any more.

Why are you even bothering arguing with them?

Even after he beat Nibali by SIX minutes they will still keep whining.

I still they are still trotting out the "hard Giro 3 months ago/last year/alergies in April" etc excuses for the Vuelta/Angliru for Scarponi et al

(I really like Nibali but he was a long way from good enough, and Basso and Symzd did not do enough to trouble Sky.)

There is a large part of this forum that said Wiggins would never podium/top five/top ten the Tour again, and it must really suck to be so poor at reading a race while pretending to be an expert. So expect dissonance, for the foreseeable future.

At some point it will stop, but unlike the July invasion of Sky morons it wont be tomorrow, more's the pity

I didn't particularly enjoy this TDF, but credit where it's due, Wiggins was the best rider (which I expected) and the 2nd best climber (which I did not).

One thing seems reasonably clear now, in today's GTs, unless you have a really bad day, the top GC riders are only separated by seconds on MTFs.

As with others, I didn't enjoy this Tour much, and have my criticisms about it, but hat's off to Brad. He rode a smart race, and did what was needed to win. It's also good to finally see a British champion after all these years.

Sky's performance at the tour this year blew me away, I don't think anyone could have hoped for that.

Wiggins was beyond clinical in his destruction of the field and minimisign the losses from any weaknesses he has in the hills. Which amounted to, well nothing to any GC rivals.

Cav is such a fighter he impresses more every race, and Froome to lead a team soon, hopefully still Sky.

Credit too to Millar, Sky domestiques and Nibs for giving it his best shot.

Yep, now that's it's a done and dusted it seems pretty obvious but who would have bet a cent on it after the 2010 fiasco? The Vuelta 2011 certainly showed what they could do but they went one (or two) further by getting guys like Rogers and Porte at the top too (not to mention EBH).

If Froome leaves, and he might have to given Wiggo hopefully has a good few years left in him...and it would be more fun for us to see them battle it out, they could keep the same setup by replacing Froome with Uran or Henao. At the end of the day, Froome didn't help Wiggo all that much, 2k on PdBF and 5k on La Toussuire and 2k on Peyragudes, he could have handled that on his own most likely, but of course he was there in case of a mechanical and that's priceless...and likely why he was never given any freedom.

I'm pretty sure we'll see Planche des Belles Filles again. Prudhomme suggested that he hoped it would become a legendary climb of the Tour, with everything sorted logistically etc. to allow regular visits.

Dear God, no.

Thank you for the modifier, since L'Aberouat, Val Pelouse, Errozate, Arnostegi, and of course Mont du Chat would all fit in that category.

You didn't get it did you? Wiggo born in Belgium.

I would facepalm but it's to cliched! Funny tho!

I felt "I" (newspaper in Britain) summed up the tour brilliantly this morning. Really good article which flirted with the fact that the French are Bradley fans, just not the way Sky ride. An objective piece of writing, which for the British media is rare.

Lol, I did not get that joke at all indeed. :D

I would explain what I thought the joke was about, but that's clinic material.

I implore you to call it the Independent.

When does Wiggo get knighted?

Highly unlikely in the near future as its extremely rare for a sportsman who is still competing to be knighted. Other than Chris Hoy, the last active sportsman to be knighted was Stanley Mathews in the 1960's and he was 49 at the time!
