this is possible.
with Riis increasingly damaging the clean image of cycling, Dertie might indeed be comparatively high on the UCI hitlist.

Given the CAS decision on Katusha, Contador and Riis (at least Riis anyway) might not have to worry about juicing.

Saxo may be on the chopping block if the 18 team limit is maintained.

Contador seems cleaner and less power

I really think we are looking at AC in Panagua (bread and water) state. The win at the vuelta 2010 was based on one smart move. So far this season we have heard too much about weight etc but I don't buy it, I really think he has lost that extra 5% and it was the juice of 2008-10 that gave that zip. Big question though, was he clean at 2011 Giro? its hard to say.

I really think AC fans should recondition themselves for less dominance from AC. Has the Peloton improved? Sort of, 34+ yr olds are now superriders and unrepentant juicers are still flying.

The weight excuse may also be a cover for saying it ain't juice time. Either way juicing has got to be much harder now that UCI has lost all credibility and Riis is hiding from press. Saxo has to stay clean but Riis has the pressure of numbers, we will see how long Saxo will be clean.

Can a dry AC win the tour? He has shown he has the smarts. In the days of LA, the smarts could NOT win you anything but I think because of the tension in cycling no one can juice at that level, so the smarts can work. But its not guarantee...thats the "nice" thing about PED, it can give the guarantee...at least if you get whatever it is that LA was getting.

If this is him without doping I hope he realizes in time that he's not good enough without the dope otherwise he's going to have a **** season with his only win being stage 6 of the Tour de San Luis

I get that and I would also like everyone especially the top guys to be clean but I think that's not realistic.

No.dope.is.not the reason for contador being a little weaker in Oman. Giro 2011 was post clenbuterol too and he crushed all. Either he was without then and without now or he was with then and will still be with now.

Because you hate doping but it doesn't bother me. I just don't want people to get hurt so as long as they are careful I don't care.

I don't think it would be fair if a clean Alberto got beaten by dopers.

It wouldn't be fair? What's fair about Contador being the doper who's beating the clean guys out there? This is a ridiculous and transparent attempt at rationalizing his wrongdoing.

Well, this is exactly the question. I think Alberto is clean at the moment but if he sees Froome sprinting up the mountain away from him, at 100mph (a rider who was useless for most of his career until a sudden spike a couple of years ago) then what is he going to do?

Are pros using this?
Cassani: the bloke who gave us this said so.

The way froome can't ride then suddenly accelerates away from.contador. Didn't have time to inject epo..but pressing a button requires less.time.

Still kudos for.managing the first 5k on his own.:p

Sorry, I'm pretty cynical but even I don't buy this! The others would be able to hear the engine...

the thing is I don't think there are many clean guys among the top guys. And to be honest. I don't care what he does. I just want him to win. It's never going to be fair as long as there are people who are doping. One person stopping isn't going to solve the problem.

Exactly, if Alberto is clean I expect him to start doping again for the TDF. He can't stand losing.

Haha, however the opposite was normal and exciting. Hard times for you to come...

I don't see why the rivals need to dope at Tour of Oman. Everyone will stronger in July, proportinally stronger I'd say.

Fantastic to see a clean Bertie riding today in Tirreno. Also, Evans impressive in that regard. :D

Clean yes. Less power, yes. But for how long? Ego, thats the problem, for someone who was literally whipping his opponents to submission to now be panting for air is humbling and perhaps humiliating. I am adjusting to the reality of a new healthy AC much like adjusting to drinking only water and cutting out juice drinks and soda. its a huge change. AC has to be patient. The only weapon he has now is the smarts. All that dashing, quick accelerations are not effective weapons without the boost of PED. Sooner he realizes that the better.

I just hope he doesn't do anything silly. I think he should write off this year, take it as adjustment period. But then there is the pressure from SaxoT sponsors...yikes!

Awesome post!! Agree 100%.

I fear we see a "rejuvenated" contadope come tour time. in the meantime it's fun to note that a "restricted" contadope does not have the pep of 2007-2009 and ability to hold 600 watt attacks. his cycling is definitely more human...

...for the time being.

funny how the whole saxobank team managed to go on the attack in the stage of last year's vuelta after rest day to get contador into the red jersey and save their season. i guess the pressure of sponsors really concentrates the mind...ahem

In 2011 he could sustain his attacks and at least put a lot of time to the likes of Nibali and Horner.

Does anyone still honestly belive that a clean peloton is better than an juiced one (or whatever this is)? JRod is the new long distance attacker.

Doping tests ruined my sport

don't say idiotic things, team wide doping programs which lead to overly strong teams capable of controlling a race at will destroyed the sport.
