Indeed.
I also suspect, with absolutely no evidence at all, that Riis is not QUITE as harcore as Bruyneel. Pure hunch.
One of my little bugbears is that we go so hard after doped riders (that's not the bugbear part, slap it up them)...but that we don't have similar viciousness to the DS.
To my mind what Riis did with his riders is morally worse than what he did with himself. Same with Bruyneel. True, Armstrong was such a c*** that he matched the crooked DS's in the evil stakes, but broadly speaking, much as i want all dopers in jail, I want crooked ds's serving twice the sentences.
And, BTW, that would go for Brailsford and Froome/wiggins too should they ever ping.
Just my bugbear, carry on.
I could be wrong, but I don't really think so. I can agree that there has been doping om Riis teams during the years, but I very sure it was nothing like US Postal.
I very sure that Riis knew but i also know him well enough to say that he would never pay for doping for his riders. Jaksche said the same in his testimony. Riis knew but I bought my doping my self i Madrid.
Same thing with Tyler. He even showed how much he paid Fuentes. Same thing with Basso, who was getting under suspicion because of money transfers.
The comes the big question. What should Riis have done if he wanted a team that could win anything. Tell riders not to dope or don't hire people that didn't dope. That wouldn't be a winning team.
I'm also very certain that doping stopped or at least was without telling the boss after 2006 Tour.
The another question pop up. Why is everybody after Riis and not after Andy Riis and his BMC outfit. The people behind BMC is more or less the same people that lead the most doping infested team in history.
Landis, Sevilla, Botero, Hamilton. Guettirez, and a few more. That was just in one season or let me say one Fuentes scandal.
Is it only ex doped riders that can't have doping on there teams or does the same rules apply for everybody?
