Gotta say, I like Contador much better at this level compared to the superman stuff he did earlier.

Hell, if he is riding relatively clean, I think such a rider can do two GT competitively. Tour + Vuelta every year. Podium here and there, maybe a win. Not bad at all. The overall competition may even be great if we can avoid another clownish performance from somebody.

I think there is going to be a rest day juice, the real cookie. I did not see AC attacking today, not in his MO. I hoped he would limit his losses. Well it wasn't a disaster. Anything below 5 minutes can be rescued. I will hang out a prediction that AC will take the yellow after stage 19

Competitive yes, but this is simply not good enough for a 7 time gt winner --> retire. Alberto only wants to compete for the win. Not for podium or top 10

Easy. Dopers have no place in cycling. I am a die hard Cadel fan, but if he would get caught I would never want to see him in a race again.

Same goes for Froome.

I do believe Cadel is clean now, so yes.

Has he always been? I don't now. Since he is my favourite rider, I struggle to be objective. Although, I do believe if any top GC rider would have been clean, it would be him. But I am not unfamiliar to the idea that he has been doping.

Regarding Froome, I can't really give you a yes or no answer. Someone said he did 5,88 w/kg today and that does not seems to unrealistic for a top talent 20 years after Lemond since I do believe advance in training and science will make a clean rider faster over time (to a certain extent of course.) However, then comes the question, is Froome a top talent?

The obvious answer would be no. However, when he was younger everyone was charging massively, hence it would be hard for a clean rider to achieve good results. (And yes, I do believe the general doping in the peloton was far worse back in -03). So maybe he was struggling to compete due to being clean and his health problems?

Furthermore I know from personal experience what injuries and stuff can do to your career and how fast you can get back once you are healthy again. So I am not totally disregarding his health problems in the past.

I don't know about Froome, but with regards to the history of cycling, it does not look that good. But I need to see some more numbers before I can make up my mind.

Do you know what time he did today? I clocked him at 47:!2 from 15km, but how does that compare with AC and Andy in -09?

In this commercial they AC says he did Ventoux in 57 min. Is that a correct time? And from what mark? The 21km mark?

Froome was 15 seconds slower than AC and Andy was back in -09 and if I remember correctly they did not push nearly as hard as Froome did today. AC was watching Armstrong and "helping" him get the third podium spot and Andy did some early accelerations but overall they did not push the pace that hard.

With regards to this background I don't really see Froome performance today as alien like.
