Doesn't Majka needs a nice, shiny beetroot bag too? One of Contador's main problems is the lack of a team in the mountains.
Majka looks in good shape as does Roman... unfortunately no RoboBasso :(

At least he has something to ride for now as doperhopper said.

He said he was missing that "spark" the other riders had. But now he has an opportunity to "glow". Winning for Basso should be a huge motivator.

And if he gets busted, he can say that he did it for making Basso happy and stand with him in yellow in Paris.

It's like the perfect fairytale.

I posted that on the previous page :p
But as Dear Wiggo mentioned it's most likely his FTP at peak shape after a perfect preparation, iow not now :p

edit: damn I just did a google search for "Contador FTP" for the last 24hrs.. even in Hong Kong they're discussing it :p

So he can't do 1000w seated attacks? Well then.

Do you think pulling 1000W for a second seated is some huge red flag or something?
Genuinely curious.

I surely hope not, as I can do that, too, but only for a very short duration and I will suffer the consequences after the effort. However, I'm not a climber, I can sprint fairly well and I'm relatively heavy, even when I'm at comparable bf% with riders of my height. (I think I only have to look at weights to increase my muscle mass, something that makes me a horrible climber and, more generally, a horrible cyclist.)

Well seated, it is quite odd. But I bet many riders can reach 1000W for a sec.

That feel when you start to doubt even your own clean status because the red flags are popping up...

No way to beat the Stick Insect.

Alberto looks in poor shape, I wonder what is up. I refuse to believe he screwed up just as badly as in 2013. How is that possible?!

At least I won't have to worry about an "early retirement"

Contador has a human body still. He has been up the front of 12+ GTs at full pace plus all the small races. I just think the body is catching up to him. In 2008 against Chicken Froome would have been left for dead even today. It does not mean you are done for good but sometimes the body just cant keep it up. I would go win another 4 Giros and Veultas if I were him and break Merkx record

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D

:(
What about it? He WAS the biggest problem back when I posted that, and Sky wasn't dominating, as it hadn't been since 2013. Things do change, you know. The arms race is not static.

C'mon at that time Sky was still the biggest problem in cycling.

Nope. What were they winning in 2014 compared to Contador, or Nibali?

Agreed. 2011 has to be included because of his alien giro victory.

SKY 2014 was pretty underwhelming on all fronts. Contador winning GTs left and right should not be minimized.

I don't think it was that alien :D

Not too sure why he's that bad, i guess giro affected him or he must not be on what he was last year but why not? Seemed to work.

It's not just about what you win. And your post was from this year.

Yes, from February.

It's about what you win and about how you perform, and Sky, AS A TEAM, hadn't been outperforming everybody after 2012. You people are too biased to realize. Anything that isn't a knee-jerk reaction that automatically declares Sky to be the absolute worst is just not enough for you.

I get that, but I think it matters as well with who you perform with. I don't think Quintana winning mountain stages is as big a problem as when Froome does the same thing. Not from a clinic pov.

Do you think AC seems to be so much better in the Vuelta (post ban) as opposed to the other GT's because he is better able to "prepare" in his home country? Maybe he knows he will not be caught prior or during the race? Maybe he's not so confident in France and Italy?
