Idk, Sivakov only chance to get a medal was Pogacar waiting for him on all climbs and Pogacar would only ever do that if Sivakov helps him on the flat. I honestly think he was riding reasonably but got unlucky the gaps behind didn't become big enough for Pogacar to ride with him any longer

He has teammates behind and just got immediately dropped as soon as it went up with 50k to go, after helping the massive race favourite and pulling through for the last hour. Wherever the order came from, he wasn't maximizing anything but Pogacar's chances of winning.
