Newb question: are there DSes for the world championships? Do the coaches for each country act as such?

Yes and/or no.. Depends how high level country the one is. DS's that work in a WT/PT/CT team may work in a Worlds as a DS for the national team. Or not. Coach may be a DS for a small cycling country national team. In a big cycling country DS can be high level ex WT pro and assisting DS same and coaches are doing just coaching and some general team management stuff.

I made this assertion after the TdF. It just seems like a strange thing, two GTs and a one day race to make a triple crown.
Remember that prior to whenever the Vuelta switched to late summer, the Vuelta and virtually overlapped, so there was no way to win all 3 in the same year. But I don’t know if the notion of a “triple crown” existed back then.

Remco has crashed in Lombardia, Vuelta and Giro. Not even thinking that hard about it. You can probably add a lot more, if digging into it, that could pass as important moments.

Bit tedious to discuss as most riders has crashed in important moments, at some point.

No reason to single out Roglic.
