What frightens me the most about Pogi is that A) he doesn't seem to have any weaker point, not one. I was in awe of his descending techniques today, he gained time each time on a technical descent versus groups, while normally a descent favours the group. B) the upcoming Worlds will be even more mountainuous than this one, and he's only 26 years old. Who will be even able to compete with him?

Apart from Pogi's masterclass great rides by Healy, Skujins, O'Connor but also Van der Poel. Danish team and yes also the Belgian team most disappointing. Being completely out of domestiques with 70km to go is ridiculous.

So congrats to Teddy on an amazing ride and legendary WC victory! What a ride today: attack with 101 km to go looked like madness but he pulled it off (I still think it was risky and he launched at least one lap too early but he probably feared the strong group ahead was too far ahead). He looked in control of his effort for 3 laps but started fading in the last. Still found the last push to keep his advantage safe.

Teddy completes the triple crown in a great fashion making it a historical season that we will be recalling for decades. The style of all his big victories in 2024 was absolutely incredible. Tour + Giro + WC + Liege. And there's still one big race left.

Tomorrow I have half marathon, some family are joning me and they wanted to go for a dinner to celebrate afterwards. So I thought, ok it's gonna be a perfect Sunday, do my run in the morning, watch the worlds in the afternoon and then eat

They booked the table for 14;00.! 2 in the afternoon!!!!! So I'm gonna miss again the men's worlds, 3rd time in a row I miss it due to training or social commitments , last one I got to sit down and watch was leuven. What a joke

I'm tempted to pull the old Bettiol illness trick
I beat my fastest goal time. By 1 second. Doens tmatter too much what happens in the TV

Fun is subjective. I thought the race was very tense for hours, essentially. I'm not saying it's the best race ever, but I didn't find it boring, there is obviously a lot of middle ground between those two extremes.
Tour was also tense hours in the Armstrong years.

Explaining the significance of Pogacar's triple crown to my non-cycling friends:

So. The best rider in the world is now the reigning world champion. Can't really be against that. But to be honest, it doesn't warm my heart, a +100 km show of 1 rider. Not really propaganda for our beloved sport, but that's just my honest opinion. Congratulations Pogacar, either way.

Thanks to the other guys in the top ten for making it at least a tiny bit exciting in the end. Remco was good, but not super after a long season with a strong injury comeback already. And of course his own big highlights. Belgium not that great overall, we obviously missed Wout today.
If Remco had done the same thing, would it warm your heart?

Well at this difference of level I think one Wout didn't change absolutely anything. Opinion but still.

Chapeau Pogacar. Nearly as good as Gilbert's Ronde solo.
We needed a Remco who didn't train specifically for the tt with van Aert riding for him. That would have made it closer but still not close enough.

I think this race showed pretty clearly that Van der Poel starts to struggle on climbs five minutes or more. When he got ahead of Evenepoel because Remco was yelling at Jorgenson, he couldn‘t get anything out of it because he was cooked over the top from having to push the whole time.
Remco is a spoiled child who starts to throw tantrums if things don't go the way he wants. Sore loser.

Well, if that wasn't a legendary ride then nothing would be; wow! Unlike many races culminating in long solos, I found this one really enjoyable. He was always hovering around a +-minute and with 20k to go I honestly thought he was coming apart; what a ride, no hyperbole to say one for the ages.

Remco good but not great; still an epic season and imho the Olympic double plus TT win was really the big difference today. Still a great ride for him.

Ben O'Connor, what a silver, and MVDP showing everyone a thing or two, for me it was a great race.
