More, cause I'm a fan and a compatriot, that's true. But I can also honestly say that I enjoy a tight finale or sprint more than a long range solo where we know the winner way before the finish. Wollongong was nice, but not the most amazing championship I've seen. Paris was better, but still.

A rider that keeps degrading the competition over and over without weaknesses is not the best propaganda for cycling, to me. All the other phenomenons we have right now, from Remco to Mathieu etc, at least show they're human on more occasions.
With respect (and not aimed specifically at this comment so much as the whole "Pog is too strong - resistance is futile" narrative), Pog cracked on two consecutive TdFs. I'm not sure what more evidence of humanity skeptics want.

So. The best rider in the world is now the reigning world champion. Can't really be against that. But to be honest, it doesn't warm my heart, a +100 km show of 1 rider. Not really propaganda for our beloved sport, but that's just my honest opinion. Congratulations Pogacar, either way.

Thanks to the other guys in the top ten for making it at least a tiny bit exciting in the end. Remco was good, but not super after a long season with a strong injury comeback already. And of course his own big highlights. Belgium not that great overall, we obviously missed Wout today.
Agree
Teddy completes the triple crown in a great fashion making it a historical season that we will be recalling for decades. The style of all his big victories in 2024 was absolutely incredible. Tour + Giro + WC + Liege. And there's still one big race left.
Its TRULY something else which weve never seen before no matter what anyone say. Twitter and social going mad over this and how can you not this was something truly special, history for decades to come like you say.

Sure there are some that may not like but no one can deny that we are witnessing history.

There are no more adjectives left to describe Tadej Pogačar, he is simply the best rider of this century and just fresh from turning 26 there is not even a discussion about it anymore. Today he did something that even his fans didn't thought possible, attacked with more than 100km to go and made it to finish solo to get the historical triple crown and his 23rd win of the season.

O'Connor was the surprise of the race, getting second among this field and in a race like this was something that I really didn't expect but just like Pogačar he does by far the best season of his career, after finishing fourth in the Giro and second in the Vuelta.

Really happy that Van der Poel manage to get himself into the podium, he suffered quite a lot of criticism this summer, some of it unfair but on a course that was perfect for him showed why he is one of the two best classics riders in the world and should be proud of a very successful season.

Ballsy ride from Skuijnş and Healy but they ended up coming up short of the medals like Hirschi and Remco who just didn't seem to be at his absolute best which is understandable after his great season. Belgium team as a whole was quite disappointing. Roglič also a bit disappointing even though I didn't expect much to begin with.

Skuijnş, Healy, Mathieu and Hirschi weren't at their best either.

The commentators here are trying to make the viewers think that what they watched was amazing. One of them even insisted it was the best world championship he could remember! I think it was one of the worst.
Probably the same people that thought Vlaanderen, Liege or Roubaix were exciting races. Cycling is in a terrible state right now, and not a singular big time race this year was worth watching. We peaked at frigging Omloop...

WorldTour races won by the same five riders, ProTour races won by 20 different UAE riders.

Couldn't watch the race live, but managed to watch the replay. What an audacious attack with 100km to by Pog, I was certain it wouldn't work and he was wasting his energy, but here we are. Speechless.

I agree. But I was a bit surprised to see a journalist representing a big media organisation saying something like that - it's not exactly a mainstream view, as I should think that most viewers prefer a dramatic race with suspense.

Its def is the mainstream view, look at the ratings which has never been better. Ofc most people like to watch the best cyclist possible battle it out over second tier riders fighting for sprints. Cycling is in a truly special era right now in terms of talent which are epic.
