Agree. The suspense while waiting for riders to appear into view is a big part of what makes time trials fun to watch.

That's why the suspense should be multiplied with good (not too many, not too few) amount of intermediate points, where you can wait for riders to appear.

20th in Monts et Chateaux, 46 seconds behind Dewulf, 10th in Belgian NC, 1:48 behind Weemaes, 41st in Girobio, 3:30 behind Stannard, 22nd in European championships, 2:01 behind Affini. This really came out of nowhere.

According to De Cauwer, Van Moer only recently started doing ITT's so his progression may not be so strange in that regard. Very good race, he'll be delighted with silver.
