Isn't a bit risky for Martin ? He has a lot of extra km's this year than Wiggins, a full gas long TT doesn't compare with Wiggins parade in the last ToB stage, and its few days before the ITT.

So, will Martin go full gas in TTT?

Then again, he had a lot of " luck" until that point.. So probably he is not a guy you have to feel very sorry for.
Yeah, he is quite famous, doesn't seem to have serious issues with health or family, and earned quite a bit of money. No need to feel sorry.

But he is my favourite rider and I regret I couldn't enjoy more of his success recently. There may be millions of more unlucky men in the world, but in the cycling peloton, he was definetely one of those hampered by bad luck the most in recent years (not as much as Weylandt or Tondo, though).

Fastest iTT vs. slowest TTT

Interesting question brought up by someone on the Radioshack TTT team.

The Jensie then posted it on twitter.

Will the fastest iTT rider in Firenze be faster than the slowest TTT squad? (in similar conditions)

As a reminder, for iTT glory we can most likely only count with Tony Martin, Bradley Wiggins and Fabian Cancellara. No disrespect to all the others.

For the slowest TTT squads:

Velo Club Sovac (Algeria)
Utensilnord Ora24.Eu (Hungary)
BDC - Marcpol Team (Poland)
Cyclingteam Jo Piels (Netherlands)
Team Cult Energy (Denmark)
Cyclingteam De Rijke - Shanks (Netherlands)
Etixx - Ihned (Czech Republic)
Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies (USA)
Rabobank Development Team (Netherlands)
Kolss Cycling Team (Ukraine)
Adria Mobil (Slovenia)
Team Gourmetfein Simplon (Austria)

(cyclingfever.com)

I don't know the individual strength of all these teams, so please forgive me if one of them is in this list that really shouldn't be!

But basically the question is, can Tony Martin, Wiggins and/or Cancellara beat one or several of these teams over 56 km?

What a stupid decision by BMC management to not include Pinotti and Hushovd, they made the same mistake with Hushovd in the Tour. I'd like to hear their reason for not selecting them, I don't recall either of them getting injured or anything like that recently?

Instead of investing in some new riders this transfer season, they should invest in some new management that actually knows something about cycling. They select the wrong riders for the big races far too often.
Has any one worked out the logic of BMC team selection yet?

They have such a lot of talent on the team but make the most bizarre team choices.

They say in press release don't care about result. Is this WC TTT and are BMC supposed to be a WT team?

Garmin fan.

Garmin may not have high hopes for the road race or itt. They'll put everything in the ttt. Some of the other contenders may be distracted by the up-coming road race or itt.

At an estimated 53km/h for the 57.2km course for the winning time, that would be about 1h05

They will go faster. I guess around an hour effort.

@bavarian. Hushovd has been in winning TTTs in the TdF over a length of 80km if im not mistaken. A TTT certainly isnt about TT skills only. I also expected Langeveld to be in the Orica team since he's always been in top TTT results, but isnt someone who does well in TT's.

RR and TT are national teams - Garmin have no say in the matter. They go for the TTT becvause they want to try and win it, no more, no less.

And Dan Martin has at least a punchers chance in the RR.

Love the fact that this has become an event at the worlds. The TTT discipline is beautiful, but I usually don't like its influence on the GC during GT's.

Quickstep for the win, allthough RLT could contest.
