No you double ultra maroon.,. the marine that got hit in the head with the cs canister had nothing to do with it.. But rightwingers tried to connect him to it.

Maybe I should go to freerepublic to keep up...

""Now, knowing the right wing’s history of fabrication and lies I dug into the history of the website they reference, IHATETHEMARINECORPS.COM. It turns out that it is registered to Scott Olsen, BUT it is registered to Scott Olsen from Milan, Illinois. The Scott Olsen the Gateway Pundit is referencing is Scott Olsen from Onalaska, Wisconsin who was critically injured at Occupy Oakland. Scott moved to California after finding a job in the information technology field in San Francisco, with the help of his roommate Keith Shannon. The distance from Onalaska WI to Milan Ill. is over 200 miles away.

The website they reference was created on January 28th 2009. Scott was deployed to Iraq twice. The first time, August 2006 to May 2007 and then from 2008-2009, he left the Marines in November of 2009""

The MAN has my interwebs locked down for your propoganda link.

I still am not clear did Scott Olsen serve in the Marines?
Is that where some rightwing propoganda blog got loose with the info that somehow Scott Olsen the crybaby who got smoked with a CS can at the preoccupation was also running or operating a web site called ihatethemarinecorps?

But it was another Scott Olsen who was running that site who was from a place about 200 miles away etc.

Which one of these Scott Olsens served in the Marine Corps? Both? Neither? what the hell. Sounds like some QQ stuff.

There is nothing wrong in my opinon with adding a 5 or 10 cent gas tax / usage tax for motorist.

Also there would be nothing wrong with rolling back the taxes to the Reagan years. Of course the Repubs would fight that without even blinking.

The entire group in washington has their heads up someone's azz. On top of that we have a socialist President!

I do not listen to him. That is another one of my Preoccupation-al demands, they need to improve the AM radio situation inside my office! I tell you it is getting more difficult to keep this preoccupation up!

Thanks for the good info but I am afraid I will have to check it out once my preoccupied at the office demonstration is over. No chance that will happen until the MAN gives into my demands.

What do you mean by 'market fundamentalists'?

Those that treat the economy and the market as their abiding religion. Their cathedral, which is the Church of Capitalism, is Wall Street and the world's other principle financial exchanges. While their pulpits are spoken from directly by the politicians.

There can be no other considerations besides economic and market growth, no matter what the short and long term costs to society may be, for which notions like "happy downsizing" or "sustainable growth" are considered impius fallacies and so denounced as anathema.

They are those who started all the deregulation madness and so called creative finance initially under Reagan and, afterward, the neocons, although a strickt right-left distinction isn't valid here. Both mainstream sides are totally involved. They see no other path for civilization but the free-market society and, in the case of the neocons under Bush, tended to see the world and international conflict in theological terms - their chief folly.

They are also those who have piloted the world into a very chaotic, unstable and ultimately dangeous position, because of greed and special interests.

Today we also read about in the dailies the happy circumstance of Wall Street's lawyers throwing a Halloween party, last year, dressed as homeless squaters, in order to have a laugh at those who lost their homes when the housing bubble burst in 08.

Lawyers from the Baum firm, the iron fist of colossal mortgage banks like Citigtoup, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo, were photographed dressed as the very homeless people that they were able to get thrown out of their homes by the courts, once unable to pay their motgages.

Reporting to the NY Times, one anonymous Baum employee told Joe Nocera about the "frightful lack of compassion toward those people whom the Baum lawyers reduced in that condition by have the distraints executed."

Evidently today laughing at the misfortunes of others in America, is yet another reason to find the Wall Street environment so friendly and congenial to the needs of society, to say nothing about the mindset and maturity of those who practice the legal profession.

...now I realize you threw out that blame the US comment as irony but there is a case to be made that that is more to that case than not...it all boils down to the US support, in the post WW2 period, of military backed governments in what have become three of the major economic headaches presently troubling the EU...these countries, Spain, Portugal, and Greece would have very likely not stayed juntas without that US support...and there is also a good chance they would have developed into modern economies in other more democratic circumstances...the corrupt crony based economies that are part and parcel of the military junta scenario are less than an ideal path to a developing a modern economic system...

...so yeah US foreign policy concerns did help shape the current crisis...not totally to blame but also not entirely blameless either...

Cheers

blutto

During the Cold War the US supported any non-left party government, even when that meant, as in Greece, supporting a neo-fascist party to allow them to claim power and crush the opposition on the left that had faught against the Germans during the war.

As it has been so often told, Europe envisioned a political-economic system that accomodated capitalism and the free market, but that maintained aspects of socialism to promote social justice and cohesion. While it lasted the European model was the most civilized system the world has ever known. Repeatedly, in defeated Germany, in Britain, in France, in Italy, the socialist party leaders were increasingly vilified by the pro-market political factions and right-wing establishments (like the Christian dems in Germany, France and Italy), who were under direct support and manipulation from the US government, which offered financial rewards for compliance and threats of cutting funds for disobediance or an unfavorable (to its interests) election outcome.

Europe's post-WWII democracy was, therefore, sedated and under the influence of a heavy dose of US tranquilizers. Some have found a moral justification in this history because of the threat of Soviet tyranny, but of course I have not, and that such was just the unfortunate prerogatives of a geopolitical chess game then under contention.

Then came the Reagan years and the fall of the Berlin Wall and all of the sudden the game was over, the victor had found renewed confidence in its global and historical missions, while the neocons would, in time, take care of the rest...

But just as US capitalism and democracy seemed to have crested the wave of ultimate triumph and were headed toward a kind of cultural invinciblity, the demons lurking beneith its surface began to rear their ugly heads: greed, depavity, mendacity, baseness. Having exeeded the limits of decency, the US brand of deregulated, financial capitalism and privatization, which the superpower was able to make into the world's driving force, especially following the Soviet demise, has entered into a phase of inexorable crisis since 08.

Europe, if not entirely without financial fault (and of course the lack of concordant strategies and internal bickering have been most blameworthy, but also in places like Greece and Italy rampant corruption), was, however, much more conditioned by US economic policy and market ideology than its social-democratic world had impacted internally upon the United States. The lack of social security and inequality that the predominat US system generated and, in the wake of the global economic crisis, has of late so glaringly produced; its impact upon globalization and the consequences for the public's future fiscal responsibility; are incalculable in terms of the damage they have done to that incredibly more humane and civilized system, which the socialist elements in Europe were able to produce and give to European society in the wake of the Second Wold War.

Then the market fundamentalists took over and, in a remarkably short period of time, everything went straight to hell as they say. So yes, US policy concerns didn't only shape the current crisis we face today, but have been the driving ideological force behind it.

I've said a few times that you can spot people like whatshisname/youknowwhoyouare. Reading the obituaries and getting their arms all in a twist patting themselves on the back for the victory over the people listed there. or getting welled up with pride after seeing a fatal car crash that proves to them that they are indeed a winner. It's not enough for these people to succeed, there has to be a loser.. A steak just doesn't taste good unless they know someone is hungry and goes without.

Joe Republican 2.0

""Joe votes Republicans into power.

Joe once enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Now the fish he catches exceed the mercury levels set by the FDA because of de-regulated coal fired electric plants.

Joe's paying for his health insurance now because his employer can't afford to pick up the cost after the industry was de-regulated and tort reform capped damages. That expense really cuts into the budget.

Joe doesn't visit his dad very often because gas is too expensive what with the uncertainty of the Middle East and all the wars going on over there.

Joe's dad had to give up the homestead when Social Security was privatized and his stock portfolio lost most of it's value.

Joe comes home in the evening to a home with a sweltering 85 degrees because the electric bill is too high for him to pay because of the cost of oil and natural gas used to generate his electricity.

Joe's father is begging for a lethal cocktail of drugs because he feels abandoned in the nursing home. Joe doesn't have time to visit what with the second job to make his mortgage payment after predatory lending laws were repealed and he got screwed when he cashed out his equity to avoid bankruptcy.

Joe's kid is in Iraq on his third tour. They used to exchange emails every day but when net neutrality was defeated his ISP jacked up the charges for his DSL so high he had to drop it. Now the letters come once every few weeks if at all.

Joe's street is full of pot holes and the sidewalks are falling apart because his city can't get help from Federal grants and the last city tax increase was defeated. Three houses on his street were vandalized because of the cutback in the police force.

Joe's depressed because his wife left him after all the fights over money. He can't afford counseling because he dropped his insurance after his employer cut his pay to compete with the illegal aliens.

Joe's gained 50 pounds and a heart condition. He can't afford the blood pressure medication because his drug benefits under Medicaid have been slashed.

Joe's talk radio is on endless repeat and he still thinks everybody should just take care personal responsibility.

Joe sits alone in the dark fondling the gun he bought with his instant background check and no psychological profile.""

I know no one to whom this would apply. But I must say you have taken a few steps backwards in your trolling. I would have expected some Aryan Nation photo or a Hitler reference to go along with your babble.

So is it any surprise really that the Average American workers, represented by the Occupy Wall Street movement, are finally fed up? Trickle-down economics didn’t trickle down. Deregulation allowed greedy Wall Street CEOs to have their fingers in more and more industries which they proved in 2008 they couldn’t handle. American families are working harder and longer for much less per hour and taking on insurmountable debt to prevent the complete collapse of their household. Is it a wonder really that so many are in trouble when even those at the top of the pyramid of wealth were unable to prevent a collapse? Should the average American be held responsible to a different standard than the CEOs that control companies and make the decisions regarding wages and jobs? Should the American people be held exclusively to blame for nearly $700 Billion being withdrawn from the stock market, by investors, after the fall of Lehman Brothers, effectively shutting down the entire credit market?

Yes, some Americans incurred more debt than they could pay off. They also invested their hard earned dollars through 401(k) programs in major corporations, just to turn around and lose every dime because of the market crash. Corporations were buoyed on the hard earned dollars of workers just to turn around and take no responsibility for the decline in company value.

American workers invested and borrowed in good faith. It wasn’t their fault that the housing bubble popped or that variable rate mortgages doubled and tripled in a matter of years. It wasn’t their fault that banking institutions claimed large amounts of assets that were only present on paper. It wasn’t their fault that CEOs took advantage of the job market by laying off local workers and sending jobs overseas where the cost of labor was significantly less, for the sake of increased margins. It was a gamble, and many lost that gamble, but the vast majority of CEOs still came out on top.

Responsibility needs to be taken on a global level. CEOs, Financial Heads, Political Leaders and American workers alike participated in the build up and demise of our economy. We all took part in the damage, but we didn’t all benefit from it. So let the responsibility be meted out accordingly, or let everyone be forgiven, rescued, bailed-out, restored, given jubilee, however you would like to phrase it, together. The Occupy Wall Street movement is a movement of the American people and amongst other things, seeks to show CEOs that the American people will no longer fund their greed and it is time for accountability.

""Condoleezza Rice On Herman Cain Sexual Harassment Allegations: 'The Truth Will Come Out'

Rice also defended President Bush against the perception that he is uncurious and anti-intellectual. "I think the greatest misconception about George W. Bush was that he was somehow not interested, not curious, didn't ask tough questions. I saw more cabinet secretaries go into the Oval Office with their presentations about whatever issue and before they could get to page two, he'd ask the most incisive question that they'd forgotten to prepare for," she said on Fox.

"And he was a strategic thinker, always looking at the big picture, always looking at how to think about America's values and America's power in a way that would really progress, make the world more progressive, make the world freer, more prosperous. And he was an exceptional president in that way. And I just loved working with him, because he was so insightful. And he also read five books for every one that I read," she continued.

Former Bush White House senior adviser Karl Rove also wrote in a 2008 column that Bush loved books, and the two "recommended volumes to each other."""

All this from someone who takes from the system. Worried about your gravy train? How interesting.

Next time you need to go buy something for your bike just take the money and donate it along with some of your time to the local shelter. It sounds to me like it might do you some good.

Republican Judge... there's video.. look it up.. too graphic to post..

"""2004: Aransas County Court-At-Law Judge William Adams took a belt to his own teenage daughter as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time. She has had ataxic cerebral palsy from birth that led her to a passion for technology, which was strictly forbidden by her father's backwards views.

Maybe he's just a fiscal conservative??

""Dallas (CNN) -- A Texas judge faces a police investigation and judicial probe after a video apparently showing him beating his then-16-year-old disabled daughter was posted on the Internet.

The graphic video drew international outrage after it was posted by a woman who said she was the victim -- and that her parents, including her father, Aransas County, Texas, Court-At-Law Judge William Adams -- were the ones seen beating and cursing at her in the video.

On Wednesday afternoon, Judge Adams was temporarily relieved of his duties for the next two weeks, and a visiting judge will take over his caseload while the matter is being investigated, according to the office of Aransas County Administrative Judge Burt Mills.""

Nope. A system where people like you are programmed to demand more, more, more. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.

You are pissed because you can't go to the casino with your EBT card. That's the very definition of tyranny to you.

I actually think Cain will likely survive this. It's been settled, and his talking it to death may be a good tactic to overwhelm the media, and viewers. Though remember folks, campaign issues are to be discussed in that thread as much as possible, not here.

As to Rand Paul's comments, I'd give them more credence if they came from a non-political woman, instead of a very conservative TP Republican male.
