Sorry for that picture being small. I would say it's elevation of about 20-25 meters. And it's about 300 metres long (since car in video climbed it in 15 seconds while driving very slowly). These numbers say it's steeper than 6% so you can safely rule out pure sprinters.

Is that enough of a springboard for a rider like Gilbert? Or someone to put in an attack to ruin it for the sprinters?

That slope is definitely steeper than 4%.

It's not. You can't trust a picture like that.

From a different angle..

Looks even more immense here.

It is about the 4% that has been stated many times.

That does look steeper. Any shots from the side?

kind of you - or delusional - to consider holland a chance before this.

Who's the coach of Holland? By looking at the Dutch team you'd think they were riding a Mountainous one day race. Kruiswijk as replacement for Gesink. That's hilarious.

Leo van Vliet, ex-cyclist and organiser of the amstel gold race. I think all those Amstels have damaged his brain severely though. He has never said anything sense full about cycling as far as I remember the past 10 years. Apart from kicking in open doors.

Probably still in shock from the fact that Boonen marked his daughter

Anyone know why Ventoso wasn't selected for Spain? I don't know how he'd handle the distance but I would have thought he'd have been a handy rider to have in a tough sprint.

How about the U23 ITT?

I guess Durbride is the overwhelming favorite, with Hepburn his biggest rival.
Then we've got Quaade and Paillot, and next Mammini, Jungels, Krasilnikau, Novak, Laengen, Dumoulin and guys like Silvestre and Gawronski, though they won't be competing for the title.

Anyone I forgot? There's probably some I don't know that much about.

My guess:

1. Durbridge
2. Hepburn
3. Quaade
4. Paillot

Probably;

Durbridge
Quaade
Craddock

Shouldn't JJ Rojas be a just as good if he's on the Spanish team?

Agreed. We all have to familiar with the illusion of an immense looking slope from the top of an opposite hill. The perspective of looking at the hill from above (and for the picture, 2D) distorts it to the heavy side

Either way, 1% difference of opinion over 500m isn't the difference between the Poggio and the Zoncolon. The riders who survive 16 laps of that hill will survive a 17th.

You take a picture from the site but you don't care to read what the info next to it says? Look:

Why are people still squabbling about this? :D

Also Ventoso - said months ago that he's finished his Season.

People need to accept that it isn't gonna be an explosive route. I still expect a good day of racing, WC even with average routes are unpredicatable.

Spot on Timmy...I still think this race will be for strong/smart riders who can handle the distance.
